The Chicago Cubs declined to exercise their $10 million option for Drew Smyly. Meanwhile, San Francisco Giants starter Robbie Ray declined to exercise an opt-out clause in his contract. The Cubs are now out of contention and may end up saying goodbye to some players this coming offseason. Zachary Rotman of FanSided predicted that they will lose left-hander Drew Smyly in free agency.
