The fan-favorite Mets second baseman — and “OMG” singer— became a free agent after the team's magical postseason run ended in the NLCS against the Dodgers. “We truly have the first MLB two-way player,” Boras said of the singing slugger, via Healey. The famous "OMG" sign that the New York Mets used as a memento on their journey to an immaculate playoff run is heading to Cooperstown. The National Baseball Hall of Fame announced on Tuesday that one of the Mets' "OMG" signs will be put on display in the "Your Team Team Today" exhibit in Cooperstown, New York. The "OMG" sign was designed by creator Jermone McCroy as New York used two of the signs over the summer during player celebrations in the dugout. The first sign was donated to infielder Jose Iglesias as a gift following the release of his hit single that came out on June 28 and was also used in the dugout for home run celebrations. Fresh off their exuberant run to the National League Championship Series last month, the New York Mets donated to the Baseball Hall of Fame one of those blue-and-orange OMG signs players often hoisted to accompany happy moments throughout the season. The particular sign that was gifted, used by the pitching staff during dugout celebrations, arrived at the Museum and will soon go on display to mark "the excitement of the Mets' 2024 season."
