The White Sox also recalled right-hander Gus Varland from Triple-A Charlotte, placed right-hander Steven Wilson on the 15-day injured list and transferred right-hander Mike Clevinger to the 60-day injured list. In the midst of the first season in their rebuild, it is very clear that the Chicago White Sox need all the help they can get, especially at the major league level, where the team is currently in the middle of an 18-game losing streak. Hopefully, the addition of former Los Angeles Dodgers reliever Gus Varland will help. Varland, who was added to the team via waivers, was then optioned by the team to Chicago's Triple-A affiliate in Charlotte. The Los Angeles Dodgers made multiple roster moves before Friday's game against the Milwaukee Brewers, including recalling Gus Varland from Triple-A Oklahoma City and optioning Nick Ramirez. Ramirez returns to the Minor Leagues one day after joining the roster in effort to provide some relief for a taxed Dodgers bullpen.
