11/15/24 | Toronto Blue Jays Former Ace Posts Encouraging Update on Social Media. No one quite knows what to make of Alek Manoah's future with the Toronto Blue Jays, but we do know that the recent video he posted on Instagram looked promising. The video was re-posted on "X" by "Blue Jays Today." Now, Manoah had internal brace surgery this past June and is expected to miss a good portion of the 2025 season, but it's still good to see him looking healthier. The 26-year-old Manoah made just five starts in 2024, going 1-2 with a 3.70 ERA. Source: https://www.si.com/fannation/mlb/fastball/injuries... |
9/30/24 | Vladimir Guerrero Jr. was the obvious MVP for the 2024 Blue Jays. But who did his teammates vote as top pitcher?. Everyone happily complied, including Alek Manoah and Jordan Romano, who voted via text while rehabbing in Florida. Several respondents voted for this one by just rolling their eyes, incredulous at the idea that it could be anyone else. Source: https://www.therecord.com/sports/baseball/vladimir... |
7/29/24 | Blue Jays' Manoah shares encouraging recovery update. Alek Manoah might not be pitching any time soon for the Toronto Blue Jays, but he at least seems to be keeping his spirits up in the gym. Manoah went 1-2 with an ERA of 3.70 and 26 strikeouts in five starts this season, before he was sidelined for the remainder of the year with a UCL injury. Undergoing Tommy John surgery earlier this year that is expected to sideline him well into next season, Manoah hit X for the first time in a few months to share an update on his progress. “Six weeks brace off,” Manoah wrote. 7/14/24 | Wetherholt selected 7th overall by the St. Louis Cardinals in the MLB Draft. JJ Wetherholt's time waiting near the stage at Fort Worth's Cowtown Coliseum was relatively brief. The WVU shortstop came off the MLB Draft board quickly after he was selected by the St. Louis Cardinals with the seventh pick in the first round. The 2023 NCAA batting champion is the first player from West Virginia taken in the opening round since pitcher Alek Manoah was selected 11th by the Toronto Blue Jays in 2019. 7/01/24 | Taylor Ward's terrifying hit-by-pitch almost had serious repercussions for LA Angels. For a brief moment on Sunday, Los Angeles Angels fans and, really, baseball fans everywhere held their collective breath. It is never easy to see a guy get hit in the head by a pitch, as the results are often brutal. Ward's recovery from taking a pitch from Alek Manoah to the face has been well-documented at this point. While Ward avoided the worst, the injury still required extensive surgery to basically rebuild his face, and many wondered if he would ever be the same guy again in the major leagues.
