10/31/24 Cardinals $26 Million Star Surprisingly Mentioned As 'Surefire Trade Candidate'. The St. Louis Cardinals will evaluate their roster for logical trade candidates this winter as the front office looks to reduce payroll for 2025. Cardinals president of baseball operations John Mozeliak has already announced that the big-league roster won't be prioritized, so St. Louis fans should keep expectations low come Opening Day. "The St. Louis bullpen has several trade candidates, with top setup man JoJo Romero also a surefire trade candidate who's controlled through 2026," MLB Trade Rumors' Steve Adams wrote Thursday when discussing top potential trade candidate for this upcoming offseason.

8/24/24 Cardinals invited dads along for BP at Target Field. One pops took them deep: Cardinals Extra. JoJo Romero's father, Abel, had started making plans to visit the Bronx next week to see the Cardinals against the Yankees when the Cardinals' lefty called with an alternative. Romero was the talk of dads' BP on Saturday in the Cardinals' clubhouse when he switch-hit and took a pitch from Matt Carpenter deep and over the wall — with a wood bat.

8/05/24 Why JoJo Romero's pitches seem to have more life on them early in August: Cardinals Extra. Cardinals left-handed reliever JoJo Romero hasn't allowed a run in his past four outings. In those two most recent appearances, he struck out as many batters (three) as he had in his previous 12 appearances combined. “I mean, obviously, better results,” said Romero, who did not pitch Monday in the Cardinals' 6-0 loss at home to the New York Mets.

7/04/24 Cardinals bullpen couldn't hold the line late with Ryan Helsley and Ryan Fernandez out. The Cardinals have leaned heavily on relievers JoJo Romero and Andrew Kittredge to work through high-intensity and high-leverage situations in order to hand over a lead to closer Ryan Helsley at the end of games. The Cardinals, who've had 61 of their 86 games decided by three runs or fewer, were in another cliff-hanger on Wednesday night. After a game-tying home run by Willson Contreras pulled the Cardinals even in the eighth inning, they turned to Kittredge and Romero to close out the game in the ninth and 10th innings instead of asking them to hand it off. Right-hander Ryan Fernandez and Helsley were both unavailable.

7/02/24 JoJo Romero continues to learn how to navigate his bullpen role: Cardinals Extra. Another baseball lifetime ago, Cardinals left-handed bullpen pillar JoJo Romero was a starting pitcher making his way through the Philadelphia Phillies organization. The transition to becoming one of the most-used relievers for the Cardinals has come relatively quickly, and Romero admits he's still learning to navigate life in a bullpen role.
