10/27/24 What should the Red Sox do with Lucas Sims in free agency?. The Boston Red Sox have 10 players set to hit the market when the World Series between the New York Yankees and Los Angeles Dodgers concludes in the next week or so. At that point, Red Sox chief baseball officer Craig Breslow and his team will have to decide what to do about all those pending free agents, including relief pitcher Lucas Sims. Boston acquired the right-handed reliever from the Cincinnati Reds at the trade deadline for pitching prospect Ovis Portes.

9/19/24 Key Reliever Returns To Red Sox Prior To Series Finale Vs. Rays. The Red Sox expected Lucas Sims to make more of a mark during the September stretch run when they acquired the reliever from the Cincinnati Reds at the trade deadline, but an injury prevented that from happening. The Red Sox activated Sims from the injured list prior to Thursday's series finale against the Tampa Bay Rays at Tropicana Field. Boston optioned lefty Bailey Horn to Triple-A Worcester to make room for Sims on the active roster.

9/16/24 Former Red Sox Top Prospect Traded At Deadline Earns First Big-League Call-Up. The 2024 Major League Baseball trade deadline will long be seen as a pivot point in this Boston Red Sox season, for better or worse. In the thick of a playoff hunt, the Red Sox knew they had to "pick a lane." It's easy to harp on trades that obviously didn't work, like acquiring rental relief pitchers Lucas Sims and Luis Garcia, but those moves are already in the past, at least from Boston's perspective. It will be more interesting to see how a more forward-thinking trade the Red Sox made works out long-term.

9/10/24 Red Sox Underperforming Trade Acquisition Has Hurt His Stock, Says New Report. To their credit, the Red Sox bought more this season than they did at the past two deadlines combined, thanks to an exciting first half that had Boston in the thick of the wild card hunt. Lucas Sims and Lucas Garcia were two of the worst second-half relievers in baseball before hitting the injured list on the same day. James Paxton got hurt in his third outing back in Boston. Quinn Priester hasn't pitched for the Red Sox in the big leagues yet.
