11/24/25 Colorado Rockies promote Warren Schaeffer to full-time manager. The Colorado Rockies have made Warren Schaeffer the club's full-time manager. The team announced his promotion from interim manager on Monday. Schaeffer assumed the role after the Rockies fired Bud Black, the winningest manager in franchise history, in May following a 7-33 start. The Rockies finished the season 43-119 and last place in the NL West. Schaeffer becomes the eighth full-time manager in club history. The 40-year-old has been a member of the Rockies organization for over a decade.

10/01/25 Rockies GM Bill Schmidt steps down after one of the worst seasons in MLB history. The Colorado Rockies say general manager Bill Schmidt has stepped down after one of the worst seasons in major league history. The team is now searching for his replacement. Schmidt, who joined the Rockies in 1999 and became GM in 2021, oversaw a third consecutive 100-loss season. The Rockies finished 43-119, narrowly avoiding the worst record since 1961. Executive vice president Walker Monfort says the team aims to find a leader with a fresh perspective. The new GM will decide on the next manager, with Warren Schaeffer currently serving as interim skipper. The Rockies face challenges, including a struggling starting rotation.

9/08/25 Topes Notes: Will the Isotopes be seeing an influx young prospects next season?. Sep. 8—Looking ahead for a Minor League Baseball team means first looking at the top. In the case of the Isotopes, that means the Colorado Rockies, holders of the worst record in Major League Baseball, who on Sunday matched a franchise record for losses in a season with 103. Former Isotopes manager Warren Schaeffer, the Rockies' interim manager since the May in-season ouster of Bud Black, ...

9/01/25 Rockies' Warren Schaeffer's 4-word rebuttal to Chase Dollander's brutal ERA. A series opening win over the Houston Astros and season closing victory over the Chicago Cubs sandwiched a four-game losing streak for the Colorado Rockies. As the calendar turns over to September, the Rockies are just two losses away from 100 defeats on the season. Ahead of their latest series opener against the San Francisco Giants, Colorado interim manager Warren Schaeffer spoke about rookie starter Chase Dollander. While Dollander has struggled mightily in ten home starts, Schaeffer spoke to team reporter Patrick Saunders about the rookie's arsenal. The manager's thoughts were shared via X (formerly Twitter).

8/25/25 Rockies manager Warren Schaeffer's vision for success at Coors Field? The Blake Street batters, not Bombers. Warren Schaeffer's vision for the Rockies came to life last week in LoDo. In splitting a four-game series against the Dodgers, the Rockies snapped a 10-game losing streak against their Los Angeles bullies. As happy as that made the Rockies' interim manager, that wasn't what left Schaeffer positively buoyant. Rather, it was seeing the offense Schaeffer envisioned produce more unselfish at-bats, fewer strikeouts and aggression on the basepaths.

8/19/25 Rockies Do It Again, Cut Magic Number To 6 With Comeback Win Over Dodgers. The Colorado Rockies are doing whatever they can to avoid making MLB history this year. After it appeared like they were a lock to set the all-time record for the most losses in a single season, some better play throughout the campaign under interim manager Warren Schaeffer has gotten this Rockies group to a place where they are on pace to elude historic futility. A lot of that is the result of what has happened these past few games, with Colorado halting their eight-game losing streak on the heels of the trade deadline to win six out of their last seven, including four in a row. The Rockies were more than up for the challenge against the Dodgers, though, getting a solid outing from Kyle Freeland where he allowed just two runs in four innings of work before turning things over to an all-of-a-sudden stout bullpen.

8/14/25 Rockies Interim Manager Has Chance of Being Named Full-Time Skipper. It has not been a fun stretch for the Colorado Rockies the past few years. Owners of the worst overall record in Major League Baseball since 2020, this franchise is banking on the young players on their current MLB roster and in their pipeline to develop into difference makers. Warren Schaeffer was promoted from third base coach to take over the interim managerial role. While things haven't been pretty for the Rockies, they sit with a 32-88 record entering Thursday where the .313 winning percentage under Schaeffer is a noticeably improved mark compared to the .175 figure they had to start the year under Black.

7/26/25 Rockies ride momentum into rematch vs. Orioles. The Colorado Rockies and host Baltimore Orioles are dealing with extremes heading into the second game of their three-game series on Saturday. For a change, the Rockies are on the positive side when it comes to the emotional component. The Rockies won their third straight on Friday with a 6-5 comeback victory in the series opener. "It's just a sign of a team that's growing," Colorado interim manager Warren Schaeffer said.

7/21/25 Rockies lose to Cardinals, hit century mark with 24-76 record. The Rockies got beat by their own game Monday night. Wait, scratch that, they got beat by the type of game interim manager Warren Schaeffer wants them to play. The Rockies were limited to eight hits and were 1 for 5 with runners in scoring position.

7/20/25 Ryan McMahon aims to propel Rockies to sweep of Twins. The Colorado Rockies will look to turn their first home series win of 2025 into a three-game series sweep on Sunday when they host the Minnesota Twins in Denver. The Rockies recorded a 6-4 win over the Twins on Friday and a 10-6 victory on Saturday. "That's definitely a nice building block," Colorado interim manager Warren Schaeffer said. Colorado's last home series sweep was against the Texas Rangers on May 10-12, 2024.

7/11/25 Could More Changes Be on the Horizon for Rockies' Front Office?. While there is not much time left to make any monumental changes ahead of the 2025 MLB draft, the Colorado Rockies might still shake up their front office. The Rockies have already replaced manager Bud Black with Warren Schaeffer and elevated Walker Monfort to executive vice president. As they enter play on July 11 with a 21-72 record, they're pacing towards the worst record in modern baseball history.

7/09/25 Rockies humbled, 10-2, as red-hot Red Sox finish three-game sweep. The red-hot Sox hit four home runs Wednesday night and outscored the Rockies 29-7 over the series. “They have a lot of good players over there, and they are hot right now,” Colorado manager Warren Schaeffer told reporters in Boston. Boston blanked the Rockies for eight innings until Kyle Farmer hit a two-run homer over the Green Monster in left field off Isaiah Campbell. Farmer drove in rookie right fielder Yanquiel Fernandez, who reached on a one-out single.

7/08/25 Rockies' Warren Schaeffer gives Chase Dollander reality check after Triple-A move. The Colorado Rockies have been bad this season, to nobody's surprise. Colorado sent him to the minor leagues in exchange for Brady Blalock. At 23 years old, Dollander was by far the youngest starter in Schaeffer's rotation.

For the first time as interim manager of the Colorado Rockies, Warren Schaeffer was ejected, and he made the most out of that career moment. Following a 9-3 win over the San Diego Padres Colorado let go of their manager, Bud Black, replacing him with Warren Schaeffer. Since that point the Rockies have won 11 games, nine of which have come during the month of June.

6/16/25 Rockies offense sets NL record with 35 strikeouts in two games, but romps Braves for biggest win of season. For one inning, the Rockies looked unstoppable. A six-run seventh inning propelled Colorado to a 10-1 victory on Sunday to avoid a sweep at Truist Park in Atlanta. The largest margin of victory this season improved Colorado to 14-57 — still on pace to be the worst team in the modern era — and made another dubious distinction for the Rockies offense a moot point. “You're talking about all these records, but we won 10-1, that's all I'm worried about,” interim manager Warren Schaeffer told reporters.
