10/19/24 After $1.4 billion winter, Dodgers need 'bullpen game' magic to secure NLCS vs. Mets. The Los Angeles Dodgers know it's unconventional. Ryan Brasier, who last pitched even two innings in a game was on Aug. 23, 2023, is again expected to start. It worked beautifully in the NL Division Series against the San Diego Padres, with an 8-0 victory in Game 4. It blew up spectacularly in Game 2 of the National League Championship Series, losing 7-3.

10/14/24 NLCS Game 2: Dodgers vs. Mets, lineups, starting pitchers, TV info. The Dodgers’ Ryan Brasier will serve as the “opener” for a bullpen game against the Mets’ Sean Manaea this afternoon as the best-of-seven series continues at Dodger Stadium.

10/09/24 Dodgers turn to Brasier to start NLDS Game 4 vs Padres as they try to stave off elimination. The Los Angeles Dodgers are going with reliever Ryan Brasier as their starter for Game 4 against the San Diego Padres as they try to avoid elimination in their NL Division Series. Manager Dave Roberts said a day earlier that the Dodgers would go with a bullpen game. Brasier was announced as the starter about four hours before the first pitch of Game 4 at Petco Park. The right-hander pitched in relief in Games 1 and 2 at Dodger Stadium, earning the win in a 7-5 victory in the series opener. The Padres are turning to right-hander Dylan Cease to start on short rest.

9/07/24 Recap: Dodgers Offense Breaks Out In 1st, Bullpen Shuts Down Guardians. While the Dodgers were the club that entered the day with a bullpen game, their first pitcher, Ryan Brasier, actually outlasted the Guardians' starter, Gavin Williams. The Dodgers batted around in the first inning and chased Williams after he faced just seven hitters, five of whom reached base or had a productive at-bat.

8/17/24 Dodgers Roster: Ryan Brasier Activated, Michael Grove Optioned. The Los Angeles Dodgers activated Ryan Brasier off the 60-day injured list and optioned Michael Grove to Triple-A Oklahoma City on Saturday. No corresponding roster move was needed to reinstate Brasier due to there being one open spot on the Dodgers' 40-man roster that now is full. Before going on the IL, Brasier appeared in 12 games for the Dodgers, striking out 12 batters in 11.2 innings while posting a 4.63 ERA and 5.23 FIP with a 1.11 WHIP.

7/13/24 Brusdar Graterol & Joe Kelly Progressing In Return To Dodgers. The Los Angeles Dodgers' bullpen has been the strength of their team thus far, even though they've dealt with a multitude of injuries to their group. While both of them have since returned, the Dodgers still have a few high-leverage arms on the shelf. Ryan Brasier is one of them and he has still felt discomfort in his calf and his return is still up in the air. Brusdar Graterol has not yet pitched this season, and his timeline has been the least-clear of any of their pitchers.

7/02/24 Dave Roberts: Dodgers Bullpen Biggest Surprise Of Season. The Los Angeles Dodgers have built a big lead in the National League West in the early months of the regular season, working around a number of injuries and roster changes. Key contributors have been out of the Dodgers lineup over various stretches, but even more impacted is the bullpen. Ryan Brasier, Joe Kely, Brusdar Graterol, Kyle Hurt, Michael Grove and Evan Phillips each have spent time on the injured list.

6/17/24 Reliever Chris Martin, sidelined two weeks by anxiety, rejoins Red Sox in Toronto. Martin, a critical setup man in 2023 who has a 4.22 ERA in 21? innings this season, continues to battle through left shoulder issues he said might require a procedure during the offseason. Martin initially felt pain when he was golfing with former Red Sox reliever Ryan Brasier last offseason. Martin briefly addressed his anxiety issues, adding that he's appreciative for all the support he received.

6/13/24 MLB trade: Dodgers acquire LHP reliever from Pirates. The Dodgers on Thursday night during their game vs. the Pirates announced a trade with the Pittsburgh Pirates. In exchange for cash considerations, the Dodgers acquired left-handed reliever Jose Hernandez. Los Angeles in a corresponding move transferred RHP Ryan Brasier to the 60-day IL. Hernandez, 26, appeared in seven games for the Pirates this season.

5/20/24 Dodgers Could Get Key Right-Handed Reliever Back From IL Soon. Los Angeles Dodgers pitcher Ryan Brasier could return from the injured list sooner rather than later. According to Doug Padilla of the Southern California News Group, Brasier could be operating out of the bullpen again in as early as a week. Brasier suffered the injury while warming up against the Arizona Diamondbacks in late April.

5/05/24 Dodgers News: Ryan Brasier Was 'Feeling Really Good' Before Injury. Ryan Brasier was placed on the 15-day injured list with a right calf strain, retroactive to April 28, leaving the Los Angeles Dodgers without one of their high-leverage relievers. To replace him on the roster, the Dodgers activated Gus Varland, who was on their taxi squad in case they needed pitching reinforcements following their bullpen game. Brasier suffered his calf strain while going through pregame warmups, and it will seemingly keep him out for an extended period of time, which is an unfortunate scenario. “I felt like I was getting to a spot where I was feeling really good, so it's obviously frustrating,” said Brasier, whose 4.63 ERA belied his importance to the bullpen.

5/05/24 Dodgers Monitoring Joe Kelly's Workload Despite Increased Role. Ryan Brasier became the latest casualty of a Los Angeles Dodgers pitching staff that has been plagued by injuries this season. The Dodgers troubles began well before their 2024 season opened in South Korea as they lost both Brusdar Graterol and Blake Treinen during Spring Training in Arizona, robbing them of their two most important bridges to Evan Phillips coming into the season. The Dodgers troubles didn't stop there as promising youngster Kyle Hurt was placed on the injured list in April and was recently moved to the 60-day IL due to shoulder inflammation.

4/21/24 Dodgers Bullpen Struggles: 'These Are Our Guys'. The Los Angeles Dodgers bullpen has been an unexpected weakness this season due to a combination of injuries and inconsistencies. Ryan Brasier and Joe Kelly are among the pitchers who have underperformed after being key contributors for the team last year. Both pitchers struggled in the Dodgers' 6-4 loss to the New York Mets on Saturday as Brasier gave up a go-ahead three-run homer to Starling Marte and Joe Kelly allowed two of the three batters he faced to reach base.

2/15/24 Dodgers News: J.P. Feyereisen Expects To Be Ready For Opening Day. The Los Angeles Dodgers spent the offseason assembling a pitching staff with enough quality and depth to avoid the issues they encountered at the end of the 2023 season. Ryan Brasier and Joe Kelly were re-signed, both with a clear opportunity to be heavy contributors in the Dodgers' bullpen. Also in the mix are relievers making their return from injury in Blake Treinen and J.P. Feyereisen, both of whom missed the 2023 season due to injury. Feyereisen is perhaps one of the most intriguing arms in the pen.

2/08/24 Clayton Kershaw says he's staying with Dodgers for 17th season and could pitch in second half of '24. Kershaw said Thursday he will be back with the team as part of an agreement that includes a player option for 2025. The three-time Cy Young Award winner spoke as the big-spending Dodgers became the first of the 30 teams to start spring training, opening on a dreary, wet and chilly Thursday morning at Camelback Ranch ahead of their opener against San Diego on March 20 at Seoul, South Korea. “I'm on a good path right now,” Kershaw said. The Dodgers did announce one deal on Thursday, finalizing a $9 million, two-year contract to retain right-hander Ryan Brasier.

2/07/24 Dodgers sign Dinelson Lamet to minor league contract, per reports. Lost in the recent shuffle of DodgerFest and the bullpen reshuffling of Ryan Brasier re-signing and Caleb Ferguson traded to the Yankees for Matt Gage was that the Dodgers made another minor move, literally. Dinelson Lamet will be among the group of pitchers and catchers reporting to Camelback Ranch this week, as the right-hander signed a minor league deal with a non-roster invitation to spring training. Jon Heyman at the New York Post and Fabian Ardaya at The Athletic reported the news on Saturday.

2/06/24 What the Dodgers are getting in Matt Gage. In Monday's bullpen reshuffling, much of the focus was on the Dodgers re-signing Ryan Brasier (though that reported two-year deal is not yet official) and the trading of Caleb Ferguson to the Yankees. The Dodgers got another left-hander back in that three-player trade with New York in Matt Gage. Ferguson had the second-highest average leverage index in the Dodgers bullpen last season, behind only closer Evan Phillips. Ferguson with five years of service time cannot be sent to the minors without his consent, and perhaps the Dodgers desired more roster flexibility from that section of the bullpen depth chart.

2/05/24 Dodgers re-sign Ryan Brasier, trade Caleb Ferguson to Yankees. Brasier was a key piece of the Dodgers' bullpen in 2023. Ferguson has been with the Dodgers for parts of five seasons.

2/04/24 Phillies Floated As Top Landing Spot For Polarizing Ex-Red Sox Hurler. Phillies Floated As Top Landing Spot For Polarizing Ex-Red Sox Hurler Could Philadelphia land the polarizing former Red Sox hurler? Author: Patrick McAvoy Publish date: Feb 4, 2024 3:27 PM EST In this story: Boston Red Sox Philadelphia Phillies What a difference a year makes. Former Boston Red Sox hurler Ryan Brasier is a free agent and seemingly has a robust market. Last offseason he still was with Boston and some thought the club would let him go. Brasier remained with Boston through the start of the season and made 20 appearances with the club and logged a 7.29 ERA before being designated for assignment and eventually released. The veteran hurler signed with the Los Angeles Dodgers and completely

2/04/24 Dodgers Rumors: Dinelson Lamet Signed To Minor League Contract. Pitchers and catchers for the Los Angeles Dodgers report to 2024 Spring Training in less than one week, but all the names who may be with the team in camp might not be under contract yet. Although he's not expected to return from left shoulder surgery until the second half of the season at the earliest, Kershaw is adamant about pitching again rather than retiring. Another name who could make his way back to the Dodgers is Ryan Brasier, who remains a free agent despite his market heating up.
