The Boston Red Sox announced a pair of roster moves ahead of Tuesday's game against the Baltimore Orioles and have placed right-handed pitcher Richard Fitts on the 15-day injured list with right arm neuritis. Fitts, who earned his second win of the season on Monday, was removed from the game during the bottom of the sixth inning after experiencing soreness in his right bicep. Speaking to the media after the game, Fitts reported that his arm felt better and he would undergo further testing on Tuesday to rule out the possibility of a more serious injury. “Felt a couple things in my warmup pitches, just kind of pulling on the bicep a little bit,” said Fitts. As rumors have picked up steam ahead of the 2025 Major League Baseball trade deadline, most of the chatter around the Boston Red Sox has centered around the possibility of the club adding another starting pitcher into the mix. Boston recently optioned Richard Fitts down to the Triple-A Worcester Red Sox and brought Cooper Criswell back up to the big leagues in response. With Fitts down, that spot in the rotation clearly could use an arm. Boston is fortunate to have Garrett Crochet, Lucas Giolito, Brayan Bello, and Walker Buehler, but there are questions from there. 7/03/25	Richard Fitts just missed triple digits Tuesday, and is feeling fuego about what the velocity bump means. Facing the Reds in a rain-shortened start, Fitts reached 98.9 m.p.h. Fitts felt capable of continuing to pitch at that level deep into the game had the weather cooperated. “A lot of it just comes with syncing up my body,” Fitts said.
