8/11/25 Pirates Bullpen Arm Returns From Injury. The Pittsburgh Pirates will get one of their main relievers in 2025 back from injury ahead of their upcoming series, after more than a month gone from the team. Alex Stumpf of MLB.com reported that the Pirates are activating right-handed relief pitcher Chase Shugart off the 15-day injured list and ending his rehab assignment at Triple-A Indianapolis, bringing him back to the team. The corresponding move for this is the Pirates optioning right-handed relief pitcher Dauri Moreta to Indianapolis, making room for Shugart on the 26-man MLB roster.

8/08/25 Pirates Bullpen Arm Making Progress After Injury. The Pittsburgh Pirates haven't had one of their main bullpen options for more than a month due to injury, but they may have him back sooner rather than later. Right-handed relief pitcher Chase Shugart, who hasn't pitched for the Pirates since early July, is currently on a rehab assignment with Triple-A Indianapolis, which he started on Aug. 5. Shugart entered the seventh inning for Indianapolis, pitching a scoreless frame in the 7-6 loss in extra innings vs. the Omaha Storm Chasers, the Triple-A affiliate of the Kansas City Royals, on that same day.

8/06/25 Injured Pirates Reliever Gets Closer to Return. A Pittsburgh Pirates relief pitcher moved closer to a comeback from injury after a recent roster move. The Pirates transferred the rehab assignment of right-handed relief pitcher Chase Shugart from Single-A Bradenton to Triple-A Indianapolis on Aug. 5. Shugart also pitched for Indianapolis in their game that same day vs. the Omaha Storm Chasers, the Triple-A affiliate of the Kansas City Royals.

7/08/25 Pirates Place Relief Pitcher on Injured List. The Pittsburgh Pirates won't have one of their important bullpen arms for the foreseeable future. The Pirates announced that they placed right-handed relief pitcher Chase Shugart on the 15-day injured list with left knee inflammation. This is the corresponding move for outfielder Jack Suwinski, who the Pirates recalled from Triple-A Indianapolis. Shugart pitched the last game for the Pirates in the series opener vs. the Kansas City Royals at Kaufmann Stadium on July 7.

A day after they were blanked for the 10th time this season, the Pirates returned the favor to record their seventh shutout win of the year. It was the fourth time the Astros were held scoreless this season, and it came after Houston recorded back-to-back shutout wins on Sunday and Tuesday. Pittsburgh snapped a two-game skid as Burrows (1-1), Chase Shugart, Braxton Ashcraft and David Bednar combined on the shutout.

The Pirates announced that they optioned right-handed pitcher Chase Shugart to Triple-A Indianapolis, as they are recalling catcher Henry Davis from Triple-A Indianapolis. Shugart came up to the Pirates from Indianapolis on April 6, as they placed right-handed pitcher Colin Holderman on the 15-day Injured List.

In 8? innings, Shugart carried a 4.15 ERA and a 1.27 WHIP for his six appearances. The Pirates drafted McShane, 22, in the 13th round of last year's MLB draft out of Saint Joseph's University. McShane also spent two seasons (2023-24) pitching for the Bourne Braves in the Cape Cod League.

The Red Sox promoted righty reliever Chase Shugart and second baseman Enmanuel Valdez on Sunday when active rosters expanded from 26 players to 28 players for September. “This is where we're at and it doesn't mean that it's a set roster the rest of the way,” manager Alex Cora said here at Comerica Park before Boston's series finale against the Tigers. 8/16/24 The Red Sox are being presented with their latest fork in the road. With seven of his family members in attendance (off of whom jumped off a connection in Baltimore on the way to Houston) Chase Shugart made his major league debut. At just about 9 p.m. it was learned that 44-year-old pitcher Rich Hill was zeroing on signing a minor-league deal with the Red Sox. Nick Pivetta saw his fastball velocity creep back up to over 95 mph (with an average fastball of 93.6 mph), helping result in a solid five-inning, three-run outing that was primarily dented by home runs from Gunnar Henderson and Cedric Mullins. Wilyer Abreu also hit the ninth homer to land on Eutaw St. in right field, initally giving the Red Sox a 1-0 lead with his 412-foot blast.
