Boston Red Sox Director of Player Development Brian Abraham thinks that infielder prospect Chase Meidroth is a future superstar, per SoxProspects.com. Meidroth is currently ranked no. 9 in the Red Sox farm system. In three seasons across the minors through A to AAA, Meidroth has batted .285/.425/.408/.833, with 20 homers, 44 doubles, and 30 stolen bases. The website also has him as a contact hitter with below average power, but it seems Abraham thinks he can evolve at the Major League level. Chase Meidroth couldn't handle a hard-hit ground ball ripped to third base but top Red Sox prospect Marcelo Mayer was there to back him up. Braves prospect Luis Guanipa's smash ricocheted off Meidroth's glove but Mayer caught the deflection and fired a strong throw to first base for the 5-6-3 putout. “Yeah, that's funny,” Mayer said. They reassigned prospects Chase Meidroth and Corey Rosier as well as minor league free agent signee Joe Dunand to minor league camp. Fifty-six players remain on Boston's major league spring training roster. Meidroth, a 2022 fourth round draft pick, led all Red Sox minor leaguers in on-base percentage (minimum 290 plate appearances) last season. He posted a .408 OBP in 493 plate appearances. The 22-year-old infielder had 80 walks and 98 strikeouts (16.2% walk percentage, 19.9% strikeout percentage) in 111 games between High-A Greenville (20 games) and Double-A Portland (91 games).
