Slaten faced Jeff McNeil to begin the inning. McNeil reached on a fielding error by the Boston first basemen. 8/26/24	Red Sox make slew of roster moves to bring back star reliever from Injured List. The Boston Red Sox just made a bunch of roster moves regarding their bullpen following the first game of the double-header against the Toronto Blue Jays. Firstly, they have reinstated Justin Slaten from the 15-day IL. Slaten has been one of the best relievers in the bullpen, so he definitely will help the Red Sox late game pitching. Secondly, they optioned righty reliever Josh Winckowski to AAA. Winckowski has been an ok to mediocre reliever this year, with a 4.45 ERA. Last year, he was much better with a 2.88 ERA. Finally, Bailey Horn is being made the 27th man on the Sox's roster for the second game against Toronto. The Boston Red Sox's bullpen has struggled since the All-Star break, making it imperative that their offense builds an insurmountable lead early in games. However, the group is getting some reinforcements in the coming weeks with Justin Slaten and Liam Hendriks expected to be activated from the injured list soon. The Red Sox announced Friday prior to their series opener against the Kansas City Royals at Fenway Park that they placed reliever Justin Slaten on the 15-day injured list with right elbow inflammation. The move is retroactive to July 9 and Boston recalled lefty Cam Booser to take Slaten's spot on the active roster. 7/04/24	Nick Pivetta pitches seven one-hit innings, bullpen blows lead, but Red Sox still complete sweep of Marlins with win in 12 innings. Pivetta lost his bid for history, but the Sox went on to win a wild game, 6-5, in 12 innings. Pivetta was magnificent, striking out 10 and giving up what was mostly an assortment of weak contact until Jesús Sanchez belted a long triple with two outs in the seventh. Pivetta left the game with a 2-0 lead then lost the decision when Justin Slaten and Brennan Bernardino gave up two runs with two outs in the eighth inning. The Red Sox earned their third consecutive win Tuesday night with a 4-0 victory over the Giants in the first of a three-game interleague set. BOSTON (KLTV) - Former Hallsville Bobcat Justin Slaten threw two scoreless innings of relief to keep his Red Sox ahead in a game Boston lost in extra innings, 9-4, to Baltimore on Thursday. The righthander entered the game in the sixth inning, with Boston holding a 2-1 lead. Slaten got a lineout, popout and strikeout from Anthony Santander, Ryan O'Hearn and Ryan Mountcastle, respectively. In the seventh, Slaten walked the leadoff hitter, Cedric Mullins, but cleaned up the inning with a double play from Colton Cower. Slaten pumped his fist following the second out. Justin Slaten continuously impressed people around the Boston Red Sox organization after his Rule 5 path led him to the organization in the offseason. The 26-year-old inherited a poor situation in his MLB debut, surrendering a walk-off hit to Julio Rodriguez as the Red Sox lost to the Seattle Mariners on March 30. Slaten took the mound again on Saturday against the Angels.
