11/14/24 Cardinals Flamethrower Wins NL Reliever Of The Year After Record-Breaking Season. The St. Louis Cardinals 2024 season might not have gone according to plan but at least the bullpen consistently held its own throughout the year. The three-headed monster of Ryan Fernandez, JoJo Romero and Andrew Kittredge helped the Cardinals bullpen rank seventh in the league with a 3.64 ERA this season. Perhaps the most vital piece of the Cardinals' relief core in 2024 has won a prestigious award after breaking records and having a career year.

8/11/24 Has Cardinals' Ryan Fernandez hit a wall as he approaches largest workload of his career?. One impressive part of Cardinals relief pitcher Ryan Fernandez's seemingly out-of-nowhere rise from unknown to high-leverage mainstay has been his ability to avoid extended funks. The Cardinals' first Rule 5 draft pick to appear on the club's active opening day roster since pitcher Matt Bowman in 2015, Fernandez hadn't given up runs in three consecutive outings at any point this season. In his past three appearances against three different teams in the Chicago Cubs, Tampa Bay Rays and Royals, Fernandez allowed five runs on seven hits, including a home run, and one walk in 1? innings.

8/10/24 Cardinals' bullpen gives up six late runs to drop finale in Kansas City 8-3. With the score tied and the Kansas City Royals bullpen having demonstrated it's unsteadiness the previous night, the Cardinals were still in position to earn a two-game sweep of the I-70 series heading into the seventh inning on Saturday night. Instead, the Cardinals' bullpen gave up four runs in the seventh and watched the Royals build up enough of a cushion to guard against a late-inning onslaught. Cardinals right-hander Ryan Fernandez, who has been one of the club's most reliable high-leverage relievers, gave up three of the four runs in the inning that paved the way for a 8-3 Cardinals loss in the finale of the two-game set at Kauffman Stadium.

8/07/24 Tampa’s Ryan Fernandez finds a home in Cardinals bullpen. ST. LOUIS — Tampa’s Ryan Fernandez thought of quitting baseball a couple of times. Once, after completing his high school career at Alonso without being drafted and — admittedly uninformed — thinking it wouldn’t be worth pitching at the juco level for Hillsborough Community College. Then again, following a couple of years of the low-paid grind of the minors after he was selected by the Red Sox ...

7/26/24 Cardinals fold with two outs in the 10th inning of a 10-8 loss to the Nationals. Cardinals reliever Ryan Fernandez came within one strike of stranding two runners in scoring position and getting out of the 10th inning unscathed. Instead, he walked Washington Nationals infielder Trey Lipscomb and then gave up a two-out three-run triple on a line drive that right fielder Dylan Carlson misjudged and couldn't catch while on the run. The three-run triple flipped the outlook of extra innings and the game. The Nationals tacked on another run via an infield single as the Cardinals fell 10-8 in front of an announced crowd of 41,382 for the first game of a three-game series at Busch Stadium on Friday night.
