AKRON, Ohio – Cleveland Guardians pitcher Cade Smith will be the featured guest at the Akron RubberDucks' Hot Stove Banquet next month. The banquet is Friday, Jan. 24, at Hilton Garden Inn in Akron. Smith, a 6-foot, 5-inch right-hander who made his Major League debut this past season, was a 16th-round draft pick from the Minnesota Twins in 2017. He went 6-1 with a 1.91 ERA and 103 strikeouts over 75.1 innings. The event includes cocktails, silent auction, dinner, program and Q and A. Attendees will receive a pre-autographed baseball from Smith, and photo ops will be available. Plenty of incredible first-year players have appeared this season, and the Cleveland Guardians certainly have one of the best rookies in the game.
