11/16/24 Patriots surprisingly release former second-round wide receiver before Rams clash. On Nov. 16, the team confirmed that they would be releasing third-year receiver Tyquan Thornton, per Adam Schefter. The young wideout had been missing practice leading up to the game for personal reasons, though it is unclear if that had anything to do with his release. Known for his speed, Thornton initially turned heads at the 2022 NFL Combine when he ran an unofficial 4.21-second 40-yard dash.

11/14/24 Patriots Injury Report: Wideout Surprisingly Absent From Practice. Tyquan Thornton is trending in the wrong direction as the New England Patriots wide receiver has been a healthy scratch for four out of the last five games. And Thornton surprisingly wasn't out on the practice field Thursday. The Patriots revealed why when they released their injury report later in the day. Thornton isn't injured but missed the practice session due to personal reasons. New England's defensive line is still in the same troubling spot it was in Wednesday. Defensive tackle Jaquelin Roy and defensive end Deatrich Wise Jr. both missed practice for the second straight day ahead of Sunday's matchup against the Los Angeles Rams at Gillette Stadium. The Patriots did get a lift from that

11/05/24 Making sense of Patriots' lack of NFL trade deadline day moves. Several New England Patriots players were the subject of trade rumors over the last few weeks, but Tuesday's NFL trade deadline ultimately came and went without the AFC East franchise making any major moves. The Patriots dealt edge rusher Josh Uche to the Kansas City Chiefs last week in exchange for a 2026 sixth-round pick. Players such as defensive tackle Davon Godchaux, cornerback Jonathan Jones, and wide receivers Tyquan Thornton, Kendrick Bourne and K.J. Osborn all stayed with the Patriots through the 4 p.m. ET deadline.

11/02/24 Patriots WR Could Benefit From Trade. The New England Patriots are in dire need of receiving help, which is why it may seem odd that they could be looking to trade some wide receivers by the NFL deadline. But due to the fact that some Patriots wideouts are clearly not fitting in, it may be time for New England to cut the cord. A perfect example is Tyquan Thornton , who Bleacher Report's David Kenyon has named among seven players in need of a change of scenery. "After playing in 66 percent of snaps as a rookie, he dipped to 42 percent in 2023 and is down to 30 percent in 2024," Kenyon wrote. "Thornton is behind four receivers on the depth chart, and three of them—Demario Douglas, Ja'Lynn Polk and Kayshon Boutte—are also 24 or younger.

10/25/24 Patriots Reveal New Plans for Overlooked WR. The New England Patriots have been experiencing a whole lot of issues at the wide receiver position this season, and it mainly stems from a lack of elite talent. Of course, it may benefit New England to pursue a trade for some help, but as of right now, the Pats may have to search for internal options. One such possibility is Tyquan Thornton, who has barely gotten any playing time this season and has actually been dubbed a potential trade candidate.

10/13/24 Patriots Wideout Benched For Drake Maye Debut Against Texans. FOXBORO, Mass. — Patriots wide receiver Tyquan Thornton is inactive for New England's game against the Houston Texans at Gillette Stadium on Sunday afternoon. Thornton, who started at receiver and played 58% of snaps in Week 1, saw his playing time consistently decrease throughout the first five weeks. It marks the first time this season Thornton is a healthy scratch with DeMario Douglas, Ja'Lynn Polk, Kendrick Bourne, Kayshon Boutte and K.J. Osborn all active. The 2022 second-round pick has two receptions for 27 yards on the campaign. Patriots rookie wideout Javon Baker is a healthy scratch for the third time this season. Layden Robinson is inactive for a second consecutive week. Robinson started

10/05/24 Patriots Seeking Trade for Disappointing WR. The New England Patriots are going to be a very intriguing team to keep an eye on as the NFL trade deadline continues to draw closer. With just one month until the deadline, it sounds like the Patriots are looking to move at least one wide receiver. Tyquan Thornton appears to be readily available on the trade market for any team that is interested. According to NFL insider Jason La Canfora of The Washington Post , New England is open to trade Thornton. "The New England Patriots have let it be known that Tyquan Thornton is available." Originally drafted with the No. 50 overall pick in the second round of the 2022 NFL Draft, Thornton simply has not developed to being the kind of wideout that the

The New England Patriots are all ears if any would-be suitors are interested in trading for 2022 second-round draft pick wide receiver Tyquan Thornton. The Washington Post's Jason La Canfora reported on Friday that the Patriots have made it known to NFL teams that Thornton is available. Former Patriots coach Bill Belichick drafted the former Baylor standout in hopes that his speed and size would translate into a reliable receiving target on the outside.

9/29/24 Game Observations: Eight Takeaways From the Patriots Loss to the 49ers in Week 4. Brissett's streak without an interception ended when 49ers star LB Fred Warner returned one to the house off the Patriots quarterback. From this perspective, this interception is all about Brissett staring down Tyquan Thornton's route on the "super" mesh-style concept. With three in-breakers to Brissett's left, Thornton is not a bad option here against a cover two zone.

8/23/24 Patriots mailbag: Is the Tyquan Thornton hype real?. If you have questions on the Patriots, NFL, or want to gripe about past answers, email cmason@masslive.com or tweet @bychrismason. Now let's get to this week's questions! Is the Tyquan Thornton hype this season for real? Thornton has delivered a productive summer, but seeing will be believing with the 24-year-old wideout. The 2022 second-rounder has served as the first team's “X” receiver since the start of training camp, he's added good weight, and offensive coordinator Alex Van Pelt is really high on him; Thornton is doing everything he can right now.

8/22/24 Patriots OC's comments made WR Tyquan Thornton seem like a roster lock. New England Patriots offensive coordinator Alex Van Pelt gave a positive update on wide receiver Tyquan Thornton, as the latter looks to put together a strong third season. Thornton has been bogged down by injuries over the past couple of years. Many have been waiting for him to have a breakout season.

8/20/24 Patriots Mailbag: Sizing up roster cuts, offensive line fixes and a look ahead to free agency 2025. In my mind the two rookies are obvious locks while Tyquan Thornton and K.J. Osborn have put together solid camps. Osborn is the most experienced pro receiver in the room and I think that counts for a lot. It's hard enough to see seven receivers on the roster, it's even tougher to see a whopping eight, many of whom like Polk, Baker, Boutte, Thornton and Bourne don't really have a special teams role. Each player at least has a trait worth considering, but you wonder if places like the offensive line and cornerback could take up more roster spots that usual with their respective needs for depth.

8/06/24 Patriots Training Camp Standout 'Monitoring' Soft Tissue Injury. Tyquan Thornton has been one of the standouts at New England Patriots training camp, which was why it was concerning to see him miss practice Saturday. The Baylor product, who turns 24 on Wednesday, didn't suffer a "serious" ailment, according to Andrew Callahan of the Boston Herald. Thornton told reporters after Tuesday's practice that he was "monitoring" what he called a soft tissue injury. The wideout suffered a fractured clavicle in a preseason matchup in his rookie season, and he suffered a shoulder injury last season.
