They outrighted reliever Justin Garza off the 40-man roster. He has elected to become a free agent. The 29-year-old right-hander appeared in 17 games for Boston in 2023. He allowed 15 earned runs in 18 ? innings (7.36 ERA). He gave up 22 hits (three homers) and 12 walks while striking out 17.
