6/01/25 | Giants Slugger Tearing Up Minor Leagues During Injury Rehab Assignment. The San Francisco Giants were off to an extremely promising start to their 2025 campaign through April and early May. While they have started to plateau a bit recently, accruing a 32-26 record, they still have plenty of moves left to be made, including receiving multiple of their players back from injury. One of the more notable players who could be set to return soon is outfielder and first baseman Jerar Encarnacion, who went on the injured list ahead of the season, but has been on a rehab assignment in recent weeks. Having him back in the lineup would be beneficial in multiple ways, but primarily because he would be able to fill the team's gap at first base. While he has not exactly proven himself as an offensive powerhouse in either of his two MLB stints as of yet, he has shown productivity at the plate in other ways, including driving in runs and scoring some himself as well. 5/25/25 | Giants Slugger Set To Rejoin Team After Long Road Trip With Return Date Nearing. The San Francisco Giants have been in search of power throughout their lineup for a while. Since they play in one of the most pitcher-friendly parks in Major League Baseball, it's hard for their own players to put balls over the fence at a consistent rate. Because of that, San Francisco took a flyer on slugger Jerar Encarnacion last year. In the midst of the 2024 season, the Giants signed him away from the Guerreros de Oaxaca of the Mexican League on May 16 by locking him into a minor league deal. 3/21/25 | SF Giants' Encarnacion will undergo X-rays on left ring finger after leaving game. Jung Hoo Lee's availability for Opening Day is already up in the air. Now, the status of Jerar Encarnacion is also ambiguous. Encarnacion exited Friday afternoon's game against the Cleveland Guardians due to an apparent injury to his left ring finger after diving for a ball in right field, jeopardizing his availability for the Giants' first game of the season. Encarnacion, 27, projects to make the Giants' Opening Day roster as a bench bat who can play first base and both corner outfield positions. 9/27/24 | SF Giants must win out to finish .500 after loss to Cardinals. Jerar Encarnacion homered and the Giants earned an early lead, but rookie starter Landen Roupp had an uncharacteristic blow-up, pitting San Francisco in too deep a deficit. While playing from behind, the Giants squandered a couple chances, then couldn't create any more during the late innings in a 6-3 loss. To finish .500 on the season, the Giants (79-81) must win each of their final two games at Oracle Park. Mathematically eliminated from the postseason, the Giants have played their best ball of late. 8/04/24 | SF Giants notes: What's going on with Heliot Ramos and improvements in the running game. Pretty cool first couple days back in the big leagues for Jerar Encarnacion, who started the year in the Mexican League. Took part in a no-hitter one night. After he went unsigned this past winter, Encarnacion caught on with Oaxaca and homered 19 times in 26 games, then slugged 10 more after joining Triple-A Sacramento in June. Arriving at Great American Ballpark on Friday, Encarnacion stepped out of the dugout and looked around, taking in the big-league setting, and so happened cross paths with rookie reliever Spencer Bivens, who took an even more winding path to the Giants' bullpen.
