8/07/24 Strike 2: Rockies trade deadline struggles reveal a pattern. Strike 2: The Colorado Rockies might not have struck out at the recently passed MLB trade deadline, but they certainly did no better than produce a weakly hit ground ball. All they were able to do was move inconsistent relief pitchers Nick Mears and Jalen Beeks and get back three younger arms in return. Double-A prospect Luis Peralta, acquired from Pittsburgh for Beeks, might be a guy who shows up at Coors Field later this year.

7/02/24 Rockies blow late lead, fall 4-3 to Brewers while wasting strong start by Ryan Feltner. The Rockies were on the doorstep of a rare three-game winning streak, but the majors' worst bullpen reverted to the typical script instead. Nick Mears and Justin Lawrence combined to yield two runs in the ninth, messing up Colorado's well-pitched game to that point and giving the Brewers a 4-3 comeback win on the second night of the series on Tuesday at Coors Field. Mears' blown save negated a strong outing by starter Ryan Feltner and wiped away another strong night at the dish by Brenton Doyle, who homered and had an eighth-inning RBI double to give Colorado a short-lived lead.

9/23/23 Rockies, haunted by walks and a lack of clutch hitting, lose to Cubs, drop sixth straight. The Rockies' 6-3 loss to the Cubs on Saturday was a microcosm of their season-long ineptitude. Relievers issued costly walks and the lineup hit 2-for-14 with runners in scoring position as the Rockies lost their sixth consecutive game and inched closer to the first 100-loss season in franchise history. “Walks are devastating in close games,” manager Bud Black told reporters in Chicago. With the game tied 3-3 in the seventh, reliever Nick Mears issued three consecutive walks, throwing 12 balls on 13 pitches, to be exact.

9/16/23 Nick Mears allows double to J.D. Davis to end Rockies' no-hit bid vs. Giants. Colorado’s Nick Mears allowed a leadoff double to San Francisco’s J.D. Davis in the ninth inning to end a combined no-hit bid by the Rockies against the Giants. Chase Anderson worked seven hitless innings and was relieved in the eighth by Justin Lawrence, who then left the game after six pitches. Lawrence landed awkwardly on his ankle on the follow-through of a sweeper that struck out Joc Pederson. Mears replaced him and got the final two outs of the eighth. Anderson allowed plenty of traffic on the bases, walking five and giving up one run. The Rockies trailed 1-0 in the eighth before tying the game on Ezequiel Tovar’s RBI single.
