4/04/24 | White Sox trounced by Royals, fall to 1-5. The White Sox have been beaten by one run three times and by nine on two occasions. Thursday's 10-1 thrashing from the Royals at Kauffman Stadium was the latest rout. It was a tidy 2-1 game after Michael Soroka pitched six innings of two-run ball, allowing six hits and no walks while striking out two, but an eight-run calamity against relievers Deivi Garcia and Dominic Leone in the seventh inning made a mess of it. Three walks, an error by shortstop Braden Shewmake on a routine ground ball and homer by MJ Melendez against Leone were the lowlights. Source: https://chicago.suntimes.com/white-sox/2024/04/04/... |

7/24/22 | What's the deal with Deivi Garcia? Yankees provide optimistic update. Deivi Garcia was the Yankees’ little engine that could in 2020, a 5-foot-9 little guy who reminded scouts of one of his pitching heroes, Hall of Famer and fellow Dominican Pedro Martinez. It was just two Octobers ago that the righty got a first call-up from the alternate camp during that short COVID season and showed flashes of future stardom. He even got a postseason start. 5/22/22 | What Yankees make of Deivi Garcia still struggling, Hayden Wesneski still dealing. The Yankees’ rainout on Friday will be made up as part of a Sunday doubleheader, and that’ll force them to use a sixth starter this week. Two years removed from his 2020 breakout, Deivi Garcia has followed a dreadful season with a terrible start to 2021, so he’s not even a consideration as a backup plan for Luis Gil, who won’t get a second call-up in two weeks because he’s headed for Tommy John surgery. Also not a realistic candidate is Scranton/Wilkes-Barre’s best starter. Source: https://www.nj.com/yankees/2022/05/what-yankees-ma... |

3/29/22 | 'We're going to call their name': Yankees pitchers Deivi Garcia, Luis Gil will get their chance. Garcia’s loss of velocity and command was tied to a lower arm angle, among other things, and the idea was to “get the arm slot back up a little bit,’’ Blake said. We just got back to what made (him) successful in 2019 and 2020 and (want to) build on that in 2022. Just as encouraging, Monday, was Luis Gil’s three scoreless innings against the Tigers, giving up one hit and one walk with four strikeouts.
