As he has done several times throughout his three-year tenure as the team's starting quarterback, Geno Smith took the blame following the Seattle Seahawks 26-20 overtime loss to the Los Angeles Rams on Sunday. Apologizing to fans, teammates, and the city of Seattle, Smith certainly made his share of critical mistakes as the Seahawks lost a 10-point halftime lead that warranted such an apology, uncorking two bad interceptions in the red zone in the fourth quarter. The first of those two picks, which the quarterback said he was trying to throw away before his arm was hit by a defender, was returned 106 yards for a touchdown by rookie safety Kamren Kinchens on a 14-point swing. 11/04/24	Kam Kinchens almost made the worst mistake on his pick-six and Sean McVay didn't miss it. Rookie safety Kam Kinchens made the play of his young NFL career on Sunday afternoon when he picked off Geno Smith in the end zone and returned it 103 yards for a touchdown to give the Rams a 20-13 lead. If you watch the play all the way through, though, Kinchens almost made the ultimate mistake on his return. On the NFL GSIS play-by-play, it officially went down as an interception return of 102 yards, followed by a fumble at the 1-yard line and recovered by Kinchens. Geno Smith passed for two touchdowns and Derick Hall returned a fumble 36 yards for a clinching score as the Seattle Seahawks snapped a three-game losing streak with a 34-14 victory over the Atlanta Falcons on Sunday. The Seahawks (4-3) ended Atlanta's run of three straight victories, shutting down a Falcons offense that averaged 37 points the two previous weeks. Not only does the team have a little break, but it comes after six games have been played — 35.294% of the season — and with Seattle at a break-even 3-3 record. It's been a misshapen even record, though; Seattle started out 3-0 with a defense ranked among the best in the NFL, and then lost three in a row with a defense looking like one of the worst. Geno Smith's been asked to carry a heavy load, and it shows in the numbers; he's on pace for 5,038 passing yards, which would shatter the franchise record, and averaging 296.3 per game, which leads the NFL. When Geno Smith stepped to the microphone after another gut punch of a loss for the Seahawks, this one a 36-24 home defeat to NFC West rival San Francisco, he wasn't about make any excuses. "Obviously we did a lot of things that you don't want to do when you talk about winning football games," Smith said. Smith wasn't at his best on Thursday despite throwing for 312 yards, with several missed throws and two costly interceptions, but he wasn't the only one to blame as the Seahawks (3-3) lost their third straight.
