Two Colts legends took the next step toward Canton on Saturday, as the Pro Football Hall of Fame announced kicker Adam Vinatieri and wide receiver Reggie Wayne among the 15 modern-era finalists for its Class of 2025. Vinatieri was named a finalist in his first year of eligibility, and will look to join Morten Andersen (Class of 2017) and Jan Stenerud (Class of 1991) as the only true placekickers in the Pro Football Hall of Fame. The Pro Football Hall of Fame announced 25 Modern-Era Player Semifinalists for the Class of 2025 on Wednesday and the list includes three legendary former Patriots who have advanced in the voting, moving one step closer to enshrinement in Canton. Rodney Harrison, Vince Wilfork, and Adam Vinatieri all made the cut, while former notable Patriots who did not advance past the 50-man cut include Logan Mankins and Ben Coates. The NFL announced the nomination of 167 modern-era players for induction into the Pro Football Hall of Fame's Class of 2025 on Wednesday and 13 former Patriots that were major contributors in New England are among them, along with a collection of players who spent brief stops in Foxborough. Leading the way are first-time nominees Adam Vinatieri and Aqib Talib. Vinatieri joined the Patriots in 1995 and went on to win three titles, kicking Super-Bowl-winning field goals in two of them before spending the final 14 seasons of his career with the Colts. Bueller? It seems like an issue that hadn't been an issue until the final season or so of Adam Vinatieri has all of a sudden been an issue the last several seasons. It looked like the Colts corrected their kicking concerns with the signing of Matt Gay last off-season but not only was he a bit shaky in preseason but he is now injured. How significant is the groin injury? We don't know. What we do know is his status for Sunday's season opener against the Houston Texans is up in the air at the very least.
