11/11/24 | Seahawks midseason awards: Who's the MVP? Biggest disappointment?. As the Seahawks turn the page on the first half of the first season under rookie coach Mike Macdonald, let's hand out a few awards and make some guesses about what may come. Here's an interesting stat: the Seahawks have scored touchdowns on 52.17% of their trips inside the 20-yard line. In 2013, when the Seahawks won the Super Bowl and had Marshawn Lynch in his prime in the backfield, they scored TDs on 53.23% of trips inside the 20. Point being, there might be some recency bias — and frustration over the team's losses — influencing opinions on how Smith has played. Source: https://www.seattletimes.com/sports/seahawks/seaha... |
10/23/24 | Patriots hero Adam Vinatieri and former BC star Luke Kuechly advance in voting for 2025 Pro Football Hall of Fame class. Patriots owner Robert Kraft is one of the 25 contributor nominees. The others candidates in their first year of eligibility were: two key members of Seattle's Super Bowl-winning team in the 2013 season in running back Marshawn Lynch and safety Earl Thomas; former Defensive Player of the Year Terrell Suggs; two-time All-Pro guard Marshal Yanda; and longtime San Francisco left tackle Joe Staley. Prolific tight end Antonio Gates and defensive lineman Jared Allen headline the group of returning finalists from last year along with receivers Torry Holt and Reggie Wayne; offensive linemen Willie Anderson and Jahri Evans; defensive backs Darren Woodson, Eric Allen, and Rodney Harrison; and running back Fred Taylor. 10/11/24 | Mayor Marshawn Lynch? Seahawks great hints at possible Oakland run. Former Seahawks running back Marshawn Lynch could be looking to take a handoff and make a run for the Oakland mayor's office. Lynch hinted as such on the “Politickin'” podcast he hosts with California Gov. Gavin Newsom and his agent, Doug Hendrickson. “It might be a possibility,” Lynch said he recently told a confidant, Politico reported. Lynch's co-hosts told the man who won a Super Bowl with the Seahawks that he should go Beast Mode in the race. Source: https://www.seattletimes.com/sports/seahawks/mayor... |

9/09/24 | Marshawn Lynch's midgame massage, plus media reactions to Seahawks' Week 1 win. “Is that what he did?” Mike Macdonald asked after the Seahawks' win over the Broncos on Sunday, his first as a head coach. Things didn't immediately get easier after that for Macdonald and the Seahawks, but a midgame massage and speech from a Seattle sports icon every game surely couldn't hurt. Here's what national-media members are saying about the Seahawks' Week 1 win over Denver, as well as reactions from people (mainly ESPN's Mina Kimes) on social media. 9/03/24 | 'I Kept Fighting': Pete Carroll Details Seattle Seahawks 2010 Marshawn Lynch Trade. Trading for Marshawn Lynch was one of the Seattle Seahawks' most transformative roster moves in franchise history. Lynch, the 12th overall pick in 2007 by the Buffalo Bills, became a fan-favorite on and off the field in Seattle. The Seahawks traded for him on Oct. 5, 2010, and the “Beast Quake” occurred at Lumen Field (Qwest Field at the time) just over three months later — beginning a legendary career that concluded with Lynch as the franchise's fourth-leading rusher all-time (6,381 yards). The all-time ranks don't fully explain Lynch's total impact on the franchise, however. Source: https://www.si.com/nfl/seahawks/seahawks-news/i-ke... |
8/12/24 | Packers Injury Report: Latest on MarShawn Lloyd, Other Rookies. The Green Bay Packers got instant impact from their 2022 and 2023 NFL Draft classes. One of the early losers from the first three weeks of training camp is the injury report and its impact on the team's five Top 100 picks from the 2024 draft. During Saturday's victory at Cleveland, the Packers suited up without first-round pick Jordan Morgan, second-round pick Edgerrin Cooper and third-round pick Ty'Ron Hopper and lost their other third-round pick, running back MarShawn Lynch, to a hamstring injury after just two touches. Lloyd's not expected to be out long but, compounded with his missing the first six practices of training camp with a hip injury, he's in danger of falling too far behind to be a significant contributor to start the season. 7/30/24 | Seahawks were 'stunned' Byron Murphy II was still available in NFL draft. Born in Texas to a family of Cowboys fans, Byron Murphy II was a Seahawks fan as a kid, emulating Marshawn Lynch when he was a running back growing up and loving the Legion of Boom era teams. Considered by many analysts to be the top defensive prospect in the entire 2024 NFL draft class (including general manager John Schneider), Murphy wasn't supposed to be available when Seattle was on the clock in the first round. 7/03/24 | Former Bills RB launches unexpected podcast with California governor. Few personalities in NFL history are as singular as Marshawn Lynch. The former All-Pro running back is a wholly unique individual, his authenticity and knack for simply being himself resulting in countless memorable—and downright hilarious—moments throughout his decade-plus professional career. He complemented his unique blend of on-field power and speed with a truly singular disposition—he'd break off the wildest 80-yard touchdown run you've ever seen before popping a handful of Skittles into his mouth on the sideline. “I'm just here so I don't get fined,” “Take care of y'alls chicken,” “I'm just bout that action, boss”—these are truly iconic phrases in football discourse that we do not receive Source: https://www.si.com/nfl/bills/news/marshawn-lynch-g... |
6/07/24 | Marshawn Lynch Highlights Seattle Seahawks On CFB Hall of Fame Ballot. Long before Marshawn Lynch was running over defenders with the Seattle Seahawks, he was a dominant force for the California Golden Bears. Lynch, who played at Cal from 2004-2006, racked up numerous accolades throughout his college career, including a Pac-10 Offensive Player of the Year award and first-team All-American selection in his final season. Today, he ranks second in program history in rushing yards (3,230) and third in rushing touchdowns (29). The College Football Hall of Fame announced its candidates for the 2025 class, and Lynch is on the list nearly 20 years after his college career came to an end. 4/22/24 | Here's a reason the Seahawks have one playoff win since the 2016 season. The famous Al Davis-inspired Raiders slogan used to go, “Just win, baby.” The Seahawks, after all, have won just one playoff game since the 2016 season, a borderline shocking result when you think about how stacked this squad was over the five previous years. You might not be able to tell based on what you see in the hallways of the VMAC, but the Seahawks were the most dominant team in the NFC during that span. There is a lot one could point to when explaining the success: A franchise-changing acquisition in the form of Marshawn Lynch, a coach at the peak of his powers in the form of Pete Carroll and a peerless home-field advantage provided by the 12s. 4/20/24 | Forget about Seahawks' old signs; whether Mike Macdonald can coach matters more. This should be the only thing Seahawk fans and Seahawk players should be asking. The virtual erasure of the Pete Carroll era in the hallways near the entrance of the team's practice facility is immaterial next to that question. Just in case you hadn't heard, the team's new coach, Mike Macdonald, had all the pictures of the Super Bowl-era team stripped outside the team room at the VMAC. You won't see photos of Richard Sherman's tip, or Marshawn Lynch's Beast Quake run, or any of the indelible moments that came to define this franchise. 4/19/24 | Seahawks, Leonard Williams relishing fresh start under Mike Macdonald. When defensive lineman Leonard Williams joined the Seahawks last October, one of the first things he noticed walking into the building at the VMAC was a hallway leading to the locker room that was lined with large photos of great moments from the team's past. The wallpaper images represented many of the most iconic scenes of the Pete Carroll era — Carroll, John Schneider and Paul Allen accepting the Super Bowl trophy, Marshawn Lynch's “Beast Quake” run, Richard Sherman's tip against the 49ers, Russell Wilson holding aloft the George Halas Trophy following the 2015 NFC title game, among others.
