11/16/24 D-backs sign Aramis Garcia, Connor Kaiser to minor-league deals. The Arizona Diamondbacks signed catcher Aramis Garcia and infielder Connor Kaiser to minor league contracts with invitations to major league spring training, the Reno Aces announced Saturday on X. Garcia was a second-round pick by the San Francisco Giants in 2014. Since making his major league debut in 2018, the righty-hitting catcher has played in parts of five MLB seasons with the Giants, Oakland Athletics, Cincinnati Reds and Philadelphia Phillies, slashing .211/.248/.325 with 10 home runs and 25 RBIs in 119 games. 4/11/24 IronPigs catcher Aramis Garcia's trust led to a lengthy hot streak. Aramis Garcia and IronPigs hitting coach Tony Thurston huddled last July in the indoor batting cage at Toledo's Fifth Third Field ahead of Lehigh Valley's six-game series there. The 31-year-old catcher in his first season in the Phillies organization was mired in a season-long funk. Garcia was searching for answers. Thurston offered a few suggestions.

2/21/24 A pitch to the face nearly ended Nick Podkul's career. Here's how the Phillies minor leaguer found his way back.. CLEARWATER, Fla. — Aramis Garcia will never forget the sound he heard on July 28, 2023. It was a loud pop, almost like a gunshot. He turned toward the field and saw his Lehigh Valley teammate, Nick Podkul, flat on the ground. Blood was seeping into the dirt. Podkul, an infielder for the triple-A IronPigs, remembers it well. He remembers the pitcher — Syracuse Mets right-hander Jeff Brigham — and the pitch — a 92-mph fastball. Brigham is best known for his slider. It looks like it's coming straight at you, until it breaks at the very last moment. That was what Podkul was expecting. As he watched the ball come out of Brigham's hand, he thought he saw a slider. But instead, Brigham threw a fastball.

5/09/23 IronPigs' loss last Friday was an historic one. Last Friday's 10-9, 11-inning loss at Syracuse was the first time the Lehigh Valley IronPigs had a game end on catcher's interference in their 15-year history. The Mets' last run came home on Aramis Garcia's catcher's interference with the bases loaded. Lehigh Valley scored two runs in the top of the 11th to take a 9-7 lead. The Mets scored twice before Tim Locastro swung at the first pitch from IronPigs pitcher Hans Crouse.

4/12/23 The Orioles could roll with three catchers long term. The Orioles' quest for catching depth produced some of the wackiest offseason headlines. The Birds apparently made it their mission to compile as many catchers as possible, and at one point Baltimore had six (6!) catchers on the 40-man roster. The peak of the story came when the Orioles claimed not one, but two Cincinnati catchers on the same day. The Reds elected to move on from Aramis Garcia and Mark Kolozsvary, but Baltimore said come on down!

11/11/22 Know Your Orioles 40-man: Daz Cameron. How he arrived: Waiver claim from Detroit Tigers, 11/9/22 Who left: Aramis Garcia outrighted, 10/30/22 There will eventually come a day where the Orioles run out of former Astros draft picks who were picked by Houston when Mike Elias was the most influential voice in their draft room. That day has not yet arrived. Another one of those players, Daz Cameron, came across the waiver wire this week and Elias pounced, so now Cameron is in the Orioles organization.

10/20/22 Know Your Orioles 40-man: Mark Kolozsvary. The Orioles are exploring the question right now, having claimed two different catchers off of waivers from the Reds last Friday to give them a total of six on their 40-man roster. The Reds were shedding catchers as if they were radioactive; they waived four guys at the same time. We looked at the older and more experienced of the two who have found their way to the Orioles, Aramis Garcia, yesterday.

10/14/22 Orioles claim two catchers from Reds, continue to stockpile potential backups for Adley Rutschman. The Orioles spent most of last offseason without a catcher on their 40-man roster. After a pair of waiver claims Friday, they have six. Baltimore claimed two backstops from the Cincinnati Reds in Aramis Garcia and Mark Kolozsvary and designated right-handed relievers Louis Head and Beau Sulser for assignment to open 40-man roster spots.

3/29/22 Cubs 4, Reds 2: The Stro and Brennen show. Stroman allowed a pair of runs, including a home run to Reds catcher Aramis Garcia, but I thought he threw quite well overall. Here’s how Stroman’s night went: I’ll save you the addition — that’s 49 pitches in four innings, and the last two were quite efficient. Overall, seven of the 12 outs Stroman recorded were ground balls, and that’s his game.
