10/21/24 Potential Philadelphia Phillies Bench Piece Making Most of Arizona Fall League Chance. It will be interesting to see what kind of moves the Philadelphia Phillies make during the upcoming offseason to keep their championship window open. It was an incredibly disappointing outcome as the team's bullpen imploded when they were needed most. Finding a full-time answer in center field is important, as is a backend starting pitcher and maybe a bullpen piece or two depending on how free agency shakes out; Jeff Hoffman and Carlos Estevez are both hitting the market.

10/10/24 Should the Philadelphia Phillies Bring Back Carlos Estevez or Jeff Hoffman?. The Philadelphia Phillies have multiple players on their roster who are currently playing for bigger deals in the offseason. None are bigger than Jeff Hoffman and Carlos Estevez, two relievers who've been lights out. If the Phillies had to pick one, it's tough to say who they'd go with. It'd likely make more sense to keep Hoffman around, considering he's been with the team for two years now, but it's also possible that Estevez would be the guy they go with because he has more experience closing games.

10/09/24 Phillies named as possible landing spot in trade for All-Star closer. The Philadelphia Phillies bullpen could look very different in 2025. Carlos Estévez and Jeff Hoffman will be free agents and could pitch elsewhere next season. While predicting offseason moves, Bleacher Report's Kerry Miller suggested the Phillies could trade for Milwaukee Brewers closer Devin Williams.

10/05/24 'It was stunning' — a few of the least likely culprits caused Phillies' Game 1 implosion. Jeff Hoffman brought a 1.65 ERA into the final weekend of the regular season. Matt Strahm brought a 1.87 ERA into the playoffs. None of that mattered in Game 1 of the NLDS and none of that dominance was on display. Hoffman and Strahm faced three batters apiece in the decisive eighth inning of the Phillies' 6-2 loss to the Mets.

9/18/24 Elite Reliever Predicted To Land With New Team Could Be Philadelphia Phillies Target. If the Philadelphia Phillies were to lose any of their pending free agents this winter, this season will likely be their best opportunity to win a World Series. Two players who hit the open market and fit that description are Jeff Hoffman and Carlos Estevez. Hoffman and Estevez are clearly the two best right-handed relievers in the Phillies bullpen, so losing both of them in the same offseason would be a major blow. If that were to happen, Philadelphia would have to get creative in replacing them.

9/08/24 Potential Philadelphia Phillies Free Agent Target Predicted To Leave Current Team. The Philadelphia Phillies will have a few tough decisions to make during the offseason. With two high-end relievers set to hit the market in Jeff Hoffman and Carlos Estevez, there's a possibility the Phillies will need to replace them. Both have been lights out throughout the 2024 campaign, as Estevez has posted a 2.17 ERA. Hoffman has been just as good, if not better, posting a 1.82 ERA.

9/06/24 Underrated Philadelphia Phillies Reliever Predicted To Re-Sign in Offseason. The Philadelphia Phillies have most of their core locked up but have a few players who hit the market this offseason. Of their own players who hit free agency, Jeff Hoffman and Carlos Estevez look to be the most important. Having two high-end relief guys depart would be a huge blow to Philadelphia's bullpen, so expect at least one to stay around. Throwing money around more than nearly any other team in Major Baseball, the Phillies could also keep both of them around.

9/01/24 Phillies Notebook: Future is on the mind of lights-out Jeff Hoffman. After more than two years of beating the odds with the Phillies, Jeff Hoffman seems to be in line for a major financial reward in the offseason. “From a family perspective, I think about it a lot,” Hoffman said of his baseball future beyond the playoffs. The Phillies have been amazing to me, giving me the opportunity that they did. Indeed Hoffman, a former first-round draft pick of the Toronto Blue Jays, can feel fortunate.

8/09/24 D-backs top Phils on Adrian Del Castillo's walk-off HR. Adrian Del Castillo belted the first pitch of the bottom of the ninth inning over the wall in right to give the Arizona Diamondbacks a dramatic 3-2 victory over the Philadelphia Phillies on Friday night in Phoenix. Del Castillo had three hits and two RBIs in his second major league game, including the winning 416-foot blast off a fastball from Philadelphia's Jeff Hoffman (3-2).

8/06/24 How Often Do Philadelphia Phillies Players Think About The Roman Empire?. Remember when everyone was asking guys how often they thought about the Roman Empire last year? Well, someone finally got around to asking the Philadelphia Phillies that very question. Many said the ancient civilization rarely, if ever, crosses their minds. "Never," was Jeff Hoffman's response, as was Brandon Marsh's. "Not as often as every other man in this world thinks about it, apparently," replied Garrett Stubbs.

7/15/24 Unique journeys, special clubhouse helped Phillies' Matt Strahm, Jeff Hoffman reach All-Star Game. As phone calls between Jeff Hoffman and his wife, Marissa, go, last Sunday's registered as one of the more joyous baseball-related ones in the last 18 months. Marissa was Hoffman's first call when he was selected to the 2024 MLB All-Star Game. Many of the baseball decisions Jeff has made along the line were, down deep, family decisions, from how to handle the impermanence of changing teams to how Whistle, the family's aging Siberian husky, fit into an intercontinental relocation. The baseball honor of a career was thus a family accomplishment, too.

7/09/24 Phillies reliever, Shaker graduate Jeff Hoffman named to NL All-Star team. Hoffman, 31, has posted a 3-1 record over 38 appearances this season, with a 1.21 ERA in 37 1-3 innings. The 2011 Shaker High School graduate will head to Globe Life Field in Arlington, Texas for play for the National League All-Star team following the Phillies final game before the break on Sunday against Oakland. After being selected by the Toronto Blue Jays with the ninth overall pick in the 2014 MLB Draft, Hoffman made his big league debut in 2016 with the Colorado Rockies, where he played through the 2020 season.

6/12/24 Phillies Could Be Looking For New Closer; Could Athletics Rising Star Make Sense?. At first glance, the Philadelphia Phillies don't appear to have many flaws. According to Bleacher Report's Tim Kelly, Philadelphia could be hunting for an additional arm out of the bullpen to join José Alvarado and company. "The Phillies could try to add a closer, although, with José Alvarado, Jeff Hoffman, Matt Strahm, and Orion Kerkering, they don't need to add to the bullpen," Kelly said.

5/17/24 The trade deadline is more important than ever for the red-hot Phillies. Here are three underrated needs.. How hot are the Phillies? With a 31-13 record heading into Thursday and a three-game series against the Washington Nationals this weekend, they had a legitimate chance to finish the week on track for 118 wins. Seven of nine regulars have an OPS of at least 10% above league average. Jeff Hoffman and Matt Strahm have suddenly become two of the best relievers in the game.
