9/08/24 The Blue Jays see Chad Green as part of the solution, blown saves and all. They have bigger problems in the bullpen. Aside from a six-week stint on the injured list, Green has performed exactly as advertised. Among 16 saves, Green would often get away with a deep fly ball or two that fell just short of the wall. There were several home runs that weren't consequential enough to cost the Jays a win. At the end of August, Green owned a 1.61 ERA and had yet to blow a save chance.

9/04/24 Kyle Schwarber hits 3 homers for 2nd time this season as Phillies rally past Blue Jays 10-9. Kyle Schwarber’s third homer of the game was a go-ahead, three-run drive in the ninth inning, and the Philadelphia Phillies rallied past the Toronto Blue Jays 10-9 after allowing six runs in the first. Schwarber hit his 12th leadoff homer of the season and went deep again in the fourth before his blast with no outs in the ninth on the ninth pitch he saw from Chad Green. He has 31 homers this season. Schwarber became the first Phillies player to have two three-homer games in a season. He has three such games in his career. He finished 5 for 6 with six RBIs.

9/01/24 Vladimir Guerrero Jr., take a break. The Blue Jays live and learn with MLB's least experienced lineup against the Twins. The ultra-reliable Chad Green, who seamlessly stepped into the closer's role vacated first by Jordan Romano's injury and then the trade of Yimi Garcia, was called upon to protect a 3-1 lead going into the bottom of the eighth inning. It was Green's first blown save as a Jay and tarnished a day in which the Jays put their youth movement into overdrive. After waving the white flag on their season at the end of July, the Jays have given plenty of playing time to younger players but never more than in their first game of September.

7/23/24 Yankees are looking at trading for a Blue Jays pitcher: report. The Toronto Blue Jays haven't exactly had a season to remember, currently sitting last place in the American League East. A week out from the July 30 MLB trade deadline, it seems like half the roster has found themselves in rumours of leaving town. According to a top MLB insider, one player who could be on the move is reliever Chad Green to his former club the New York Yankees. “The Yankees are interested in a reunion with Chad Green, which makes sense on a number of levels,” MLB Network's Jon Morosi posted today on X.

7/23/24 MLB Rumors: Yankees Interested In Reuniting With Star Blue Jays Reliever. The New York Yankees reportedly are interested in bringing back reliever Chad Green in a trade with the Toronto Blue Jays ahead of next week's deadline, according to Jon Morosi of MLB Network. Morosi reports that the move makes sense from multiple standpoints. Chad Green is having a good season for the Blue Jays, pitching to the tune of a 1.88 ERA, although some of the advanced metrics are not as good as his prior years.

7/09/24 Ex-Yankees' Star Reliever Mentioned as Trade Option; Could Hurler Fit With Mets?. The New York Mets need all the bullpen help they can get with the trade deadline (July 30) approaching in the near future. MLB insider Joel Sherman of The New York Post floated the idea of veteran righty arm Chad Green being a potential trade candidate for the struggling Toronto Blue Jays. Green has fully recovered from 2022 Tommy John surgery, and looks back to his old form with a 1.57 ERA, a 1.00 WHIP and 21 strikeouts across 23 appearances (21 innings) with Toronto this season.

6/18/24 David Hamilton and Ceddanne Rafaela spark rally as Red Sox top Blue Jays for fourth straight victory. The new reliever, Chad Green, never glanced at Hamilton, overlooking the fact he leads the team in stolen bases with 18. Hamilton made Green pay when he immediately took off, swiping his 19th bag of the season with ease on a head-first slide. The Sox had another dynamic figure at the plate in Ceddanne Rafaela, who already had two hits, including a double down the left-field line. Hamilton and Rafaela have created havoc at the bottom of the order, highlighted by their growth at the plate and their dynamic running ability on the bases.

6/07/24 [National Post] - Jays' Chad Green gives up walk-off homer in devastating loss to host A's. In what is likely their final visit to the Oakland Coliseum, the Jays opened a three-game series late Friday, losing 2-1 on a walk-off homer

5/28/24 Blue Jays reinstate right-hander Chad Green from IL, option Erik Swanson to Triple-A. The Toronto Blue Jays reinstated right-handed reliever Chad Green from the 15-day injured list before Tuesday's game in Chicago against the White Sox and optioned righty Erik Swanson to Triple-A Buffalo. The 33-year-old Green had been out since April 15 with a strain of the right teres major, a muscle in the upper arm near the shoulder. In his second season with Toronto and ninth in the majors, Green is 37-22 with a 3.21 ERA for his career. Swanson is 1-2 with a 9.22 ERA in 17 games for Toronto this season after going 4-2 with a 2.97 ERA in 69 games last season.

5/07/24 Bigger things were expected for the Toronto Blue Jays, who are mired in last place. The Toronto Blue Jays started the 2024 regular season aiming for bigger things after crashing out in the wild-card series last fall. At 16-19 entering Tuesday's game at Philadelphia, the Blue Jays were in last place in the American League East and a growing list of pitcher injuries has dimmed hopes for a quick turnaround. Here's a look at five storylines as Canada's lone big-league team approaches the season's one-quarter mark (all statistics as of Tuesday afternoon). With fellow high-leverage option Chad Green (shoulder) and long reliever Bowden Francis (forearm) on the injured list, Blue Jays manager John Schneider has had limited relief options in recent days.

2/17/24 Green gets full spring experience with Jays. Reliever Chad Green is getting the full spring experience this time around with the Toronto Blue Jays. Unlike last year when he was recovering from Tommy John surgery, the veteran right-hander is building up for the campaign with a regular throwing routine and participation in fielding drills at the team's player development complex. “He's going to be rock solid and he can pitch anywhere,” closer Jordan Romano said Saturday. A guy with experience, a guy that's been good his whole career.

11/08/23 3 pitcher trade targets for the Blue Jays this offseason. On paper, it doesn't make much sense for the Toronto Blue Jays to acquire a starting pitcher or reliever on the trade market this winter. After picking up Chad Green's two-year contract option, the Blue Jays now have most of their bullpen spots pencilled in for the 2024 season. It's unlikely the Blue Jays use their resources trading for pitchers this offseason, but if they decide to do an about face, here are some pitchers they should keep in mind.

11/06/23 Former Yankees pitcher with growing role won't leave rival. Former Yankees reliever Chad Green will stay in Toronto for two more years, reported MLB Network's Jon Morosi on Monday. After negotiations with the Yankees last offseason, the 32-year-old pitcher figured his time in New York was over. “I kind of put two and two together and realized that probably my Yankee career was over at that time,” he told Gary Phillips of The New York Daily News in September. Instead, Green landed a two-year, $8.5 million contract with the Blue Jays which included a two-year club option - this is the reason he's staying in Toronto.

10/03/23 Green has impressed over last month with Jays. One month into his return to the big leagues, Blue Jays reliever Chad Green has provided another quality arm to a Toronto bullpen loaded with talent. “From a veteran standpoint, obviously being in this division for his whole career and pitching in big spots and high leverage, (it's) just his presence,” Schneider said. Green was able to build up at Class A Dunedin and triple-A Buffalo over the summer before making his Blue Jays debut on Sept. 1.

9/16/23 Jose Berrios beauty and Vladimir Guerrero Jr. blast deliver much-needed Blue Jays victory. As a man accustomed to wearing Yankees pinstripes at this time of year, Blue Jays reliever Chad Green has a handle on what it takes to navigate the pressures of baseball's playoff stretch drive. “I'm not saying you have to treat it like a playoff game but it's as close as possible,” Green said prior to what felt like a must-win 3-0 Jays victory over the Boston Red Sox on Friday night at the Rogers Centre. 9/01/23 Former Tiger minor leaguer activated from IL. A former Detroit Tigers draft pitch and West Michigan Whitecaps pitcher has been activated from the 60-day IL by Toronto. The Blue Jays announced on Friday that they had activated Chad Green. The right-handed pitcher has not pitched since May 2022 when he had Tommy John surgery. Green was initially drafted by the Blue Jays in the 37th round of the 2010 draft but did not sign, opting to pitch in college at Louisville, and was then drafted by the Tigers in 2013.
