11/05/24 | Chicago Cubs Reunite With Their Former World Series Champion Reliever. Much of the conversation surrounding the Chicago Cubs the past two seasons have focused on their bullpen struggles, and even though that unit started performing better towards the end of the year, there are still question marks about their viability going forward. President of baseball operations Jed Hoyer expressed his regret for not bolstering the relief staff ahead of 2024 when it was clear they needed upgrades coming off a late-season collapse in 2023 that cost them a spot in the playoffs. In an announcement made by the team's official social media page, they revealed they signed left-handed pitcher Rob Zastryzny and designated right-hander Jimmy Herget for assignment to make room on the 40-man roster. Cubs fans might recognize that name. Source: https://www.si.com/mlb/cubs/news/chicago-cubs-reun... |

7/02/24 | Brewers take on Rockies as rotation remains in flux. Left-hander Rob Zastryzny became the 15th different starting pitcher this season for Milwaukee when he pitched a 1-2-3 first inning as an opener in the Brewers' series-opening, 8-7 loss to the Colorado Rockies in Denver on Monday. No. 14 was another left-hander who will make his second start of the campaign on Tuesday, when former American League Cy Young Award winner Dallas Keuchel takes the mound for the Brewers. The 36-year-old Keuchel (0-0, 11.25 ERA), a two-time All-Star and five-time Gold Glove winner who won the 2015 AL Cy Young with a 20-8 record for the Houston Astros in 2015, was acquired June 25 from the Seattle Mariners for cash considerations.
