9/05/25 Rangers Star Pitcher Jack Leiter Could Be the Key in Upcoming Playoff Push. The Texas Rangers are fighting tooth and nail for a playoff spot in 2025. The Rangers have dealt with injuries and poor offensive performance all season from a lineup that was considered the strong suit of the team going into the year. Nathan Eovaldi pitched like a Cy Young candidate before going down for the season and Jacob deGrom began to look like himself again, which helped keep the team afloat. Now down Eovaldi, Corey Seager, Marcus Semien, Evan Carter and Tyler Mahle, Jack Leiter may be the key to Texas making the playoffs.

9/04/25 Rangers Mentioned by MLB Insider As Potential Suitor for Phillies All-Star Free Agent. The Texas Rangers are going to have some work to do with their roster this offseason to avoid another underwhelming regular season. This year has been a roller coaster ride, but entering play on Sept. 4, the Rangers are 5.5 games behind the Houston Astros in the American League West race and only 1.5 games behind the Seattle Mariners for the final wild card spot. Losing ace Nathan Eovaldi to a season-ending injury was a massive blow to the starting rotation. Tyler Mahle remains on the injured list and Kumar Rocker has struggled, currently pitching in the minor leagues.

8/31/25 Rangers Star Nathan Eovaldi Coaching Franchise's Next Potential Ace. While the Texas Rangers are working through the fallout of pitcher Nathan Eovaldi's injury, most likely sidelining him for the rest of the season, the rest of the pitching staff still has a game to be played. With Jacob DeGrom slowing down a bit the past month, the responsibility has seemingly fallen to Jack Leiter, the expected future ace for the franchise. While sidelined, though, Eovaldi has passed on his success, which has allowed him to have his career year to the young pitcher, ensuring he gets the help he needs to take over his role. When the Rangers re-signed Eovaldi, giving him another three-year contract, they weren't just expecting him to contribute on the mound.

8/29/25 Injury sidelines former Red Sox All-Star for rest of regular season. It's been a tough week for former Red Sox stars. Days after the Rangers shut down Nathan Eovaldi for the rest of the 2025 season with a rotator cuff strain, the Padres put Xander Bogaerts on the shelf. “We have placed SS Xander Bogaerts on the 10-day IL with a non-displaced fracture in his left foot and recalled INF Mason McCoy from Triple-A El Paso." Bogaerts, who played the first 10 seasons of his big league career and won two World Series in Boston, had played 131 games of 132 games for San Diego before the injury announcement.

8/28/25 Rangers use dominant win to cap off series win versus division foe Angels. For the first time since July of 2011, the Texas Rangers scored 20 runs in a game. It was the first time since right after the All-Star Break both the pitching and hitting were working in tandem back when the Rangers were the hottest team in baseball. The Rangers managed 22 hits as well as 39 total bases in their biggest offensive outburst of the season. On the same day after the team officially shut down ace Nathan Eovaldi for a rotator cuff injury, the bats had finally come to life.

8/27/25 AL Cy Young contender Eovaldi likely done for '25. Rangers right-hander Nathan Eovaldi, among the favorites for the AL Cy Young Award, will likely miss the remainder of the season with a strained rotator cuff.

8/26/25 Rangers pitcher Nathan Eovaldi's career-best season likely over because of rotator cuff strain. Texas Rangers right-hander Nathan Eovaldi is likely done for the season because of a rotator cuff strain. Chris Young, the team's president of baseball operations, made the announcement Tuesday, a day before Eovaldi's scheduled start against the Los Angeles Angels when he had another opportunity to take over as MLB's qualified ERA leader. Eovaldi has been one of baseball's best pitchers all season, but was left off the American League All-Star team and hasn't been among the qualified leaders after missing most of June because of elbow inflammation.

8/23/25 Bruce Bochy gets 100% real on Nathan Eovaldi's Rangers AL Cy Young push. The Texas Rangers have had a disappointing season, but one of their starting pitchers has been anything but a disappointment. Nathan Eovaldi has performed so well this year, that his manager Bruce Bochy wants the hurler to win a Cy Young award. Eovaldi had another great outing on Friday. “Of course — I mean, I go out there and I try to be able to go deep into the game,” Eovaldi said.

8/22/25 Rangers' Nathan Eovaldi takes temporary hold of MLB's ERA lead with another 'gutty effort'. Eovaldi, the Texas Rangers' ace, pitched seven innings of one-run ball in a walkoff 4-3 win vs. the Cleveland Guardians in the process. Be the smartest Rangers fan. The 35-year-old established himself as possibly the league's best statistical pitcher, too, in the process. Eovaldi's 1.73 ERA is now the best among all qualified pitchers in baseball by nearly half of a run after he logged his 130th inning of the season in his team's 130th game.

8/14/25 Two Rangers Aces Have Some of Best Tools Among American League Pitchers. The Texas Rangers sit at .500 and are four games back of the final American League Wild Card. The offense has struggled, but one thing Texas has been able to count on all season is their starting pitching. The rotation has the best ERA in baseball at 3.32, with the next highest being 3.58. The two biggest reasons for that mark have been a career year from Nathan Eovaldi and a resurgence from Jacob deGrom, who is looking like the ace he once was.

The 35-year-old right-hander struck out three, walked one and hit two batters before exiting with Texas down 5-1.

Eovaldi (10-3, 1.38 ERA) will oppose Arizona's Ryne Nelson (6-3, 3.20) in a battle of right-handers. The Rangers were swept by Philadelphia over the weekend and have lost four consecutive games.
