Athletics catcher proved just what kind of pop he has Tuesday as he delivered three home runs in over the Washington Nationals in the nation’s capital. The 27-year-old didn’t just crank out the trio of homers, however, as he also finished the night with five hits — a career-first for the fourth-year pro. Langeliers has been on an absolute tear following the MLB All-Star break. He already has 10 home runs in just 17 games played since the Midsummer Classic, along with a .435 batting average and 1.430 OPS. While the hot bat is impressive, some numbers that Langeliers matched on Tuesday night are even more imposing. Langeliers also placed himself among some of the game’s greats behind the dish; he became just the fourth catcher in MLB history to have a pair of three-home run games in their career, joining Johnny Bench, Gary Carter and Travis d’Arnaud, per MLB’s Sarah Langs. 6/01/25	[NBC Sports Bay Area] - Blue Jays' Springer tagged out by A's on blooper-worthy play. Toronto Blue Jays outfielder had a bit too much spring in his step on Sunday . With two outs in the bottom of the fifth inning at Rogers Centre, Springer attempted to go from first to third on Alejandro Kirk’s RBI double — and, at first, it seemed like he did. A’s third baseman Max Schuemann approached Springer from behind and tagged him as he hopped up and down on the bag. Springer originally was called safe, but the A’s challenge resulted in the play being overturned and Springer making the third out of the inning with Toronto trailing by a run. After the Athletics' challenge, Schuemann did indeed catch Springer slippin' ?? — Athletics on NBCS (@NBCSAthletics) The Blue Jays ended up taking the lead anyway after Springer’s blunder when Addison Barger gave Toronto a 5-4 advantage with a three-run homer in the eighth. It’s unclear, however, if Springer was hopping up and down after tweaking his ankle on the play, or if he just felt bouncy during a pivotal Blue Jays rally. For what it’s worth, Springer remained in the game — and Schuemann smiled on his way back to the A’s dugout after what certainly was a heads-up play. 5/31/25	Varsho exits A's-Jays with apparent leg injury. Varsho grabbed the back of his thigh after rounding second base on his base hit off the wall in left-center, hopped a few steps and fell near third base as he was tagged out by third baseman Max Schuemann. Athletic trainers tended to Varsho on the field and he was able to slowly walk off under his own power. Myles Straw replaced him. 9/30/24	[NBC Sports Bay Area] - How Hernáiz, Schuemann made history in Oakland A's last game. Darell Hernáiz and Max Schuemann made history in the Oakland Athletics’ final game. In the bottom of the ninth, trailing by four runs, the A’s rookie outfielder cut that deficit in half with a two-run double, registering the organization’s final RBI hit in its 57-year Oakland era. After reaching second base, Hernáiz turned to his teammates at the dugout and swiped his right hand across the “Oakland” embroidered on his jersey. “That’s pretty crazy,” Hernáiz said (). “I can’t even really fathom that. One day, I’ll be able to look back on it. “For the fans, we just feel for them and want to give them the best show we possibly can for years to come. Hopefully, they can still root for us.” The A’s comeback attempt didn’t have a fairytale ending on Sunday afternoon at T-Mobile Park, however. On a 3-2 count, Schuemann struck out with a runner on second base, recording Oakland’s final out in MLB history. The A’s capped the organization’s 9,002nd and final game with a 6-4 defeat ahead of their move to West Sacramento’s Sutter Health Park. The town is now without representation in MLB, the NBA or the AFL/NFL for the first time since 1959. And as painful as the countdown might have been for fans, Oakland’s lasts on the diamond were only a matter of time. That said, the history books are always taking names, dates and numbers down.
