7/12/25 Starter Matthew Liberatore heads into break with areas to build on: Cardinals Extra. As he went through spring training earlier this year, Cardinals lefty Matthew Liberatore treated his build-up with the possibility of being used as a starter. When one did and Liberatore, a starter through his path in the minors, was announced as a member of the Cardinals' opening day rotation, his preparation allowed him a smoother transition into what has been a lesson-filled first half of the season. “I think there are a lot of things that I did well in this first half, and I also think there are some things that I didn't do so well in this first half, especially towards the end here,” Liberatore said on Saturday morning after making his final start before the All-Star break.

5/31/25 Cardinals' Matthew Liberatore believes outing vs. Rangers offers 'plenty of takeaways'. Cardinals starter Matthew Liberatore felt he had Sam Haggerty “beat” on a 3-2 fastball placed at the top of the strike zone during their encounter in the second inning on Friday at Globe Life Field. Liberatore was working with runners on first and second base, two outs in the frame, and with the Cardinals trailing 1-0 when Haggerty stepped in to face him.

5/30/25 In rare rocky start by Cardinals' Matthew Liberatore, Rangers pull away for win. Having allowed five runs in total across his previous four starts entering Friday, Cardinals starter Matthew Liberatore could not get past the second frame against the Rangers before matching that figure. Liberatore surrendered one run in the first inning and four in the second, leaving the Cardinals in an early deficit they could not climb out of in an 11-1 loss to the Rangers at Globe Life Field. The five runs allowed by the left-hander matched a season high. Although Liberatore managed to complete three scoreless innings before his exit, four runs surrendered by rookie Gordon Graceffo in the sixth inning and two allowed by rookie Matt Svanson in the seventh inning left the Cardinals with their biggest deficit in a loss since losing by 11 runs on April 6 to the Red Sox.

5/29/25 Struggling Rangers look to right ship against streaking Cardinals. St. Louis will send left-hander Matthew Liberatore (3-3, 2.73 ERA) to the mound to begin the game while the Rangers will turn to rookie righty Jack Leiter (3-2, 4.17 ERA). The Cardinals have been one of baseball's hottest teams in May, compiling an 18-7 record over the month's first 25 games while winning seven of their past eight series. St. Louis heads to the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex on the heels of a 6-4 victory in Baltimore on Wednesday that produced its fifth win in its past six games.
