9/06/25 Angels' Trade Deadline Addition Has 'A Lot To Prove' Down the Stretch, Says Insider. The Los Angeles Angels may be out of the postseason race, but there's still plenty of season left for some Halos to prove themselves. One such player is Oswald Peraza, who the Angels acquired from the New York Yankees. The move for Peraza was one of two deals the Halos struck at the deadline, and while many saw him as a step backwards, he can absolutely prove as a valuable player for the Angels going forward. "Since [the deadline], [Peraza]'s slashed just .226/.250/.355 in 16 games, entering Wednesday," wrote MLB.com's Andres Soto.

8/31/25 Soriano's stellar pitching and Peraza's homer lead Angels to shutout win over Astros. José Soriano and two relievers combined for a two-hitter and Oswald Peraza hit his first home run since a trade from the Yankees to lead the Los Angeles Angels to a 3-0 win over the Houston Astros on Sunday. Luis García allowed one hit in a scoreless eighth and Kenley Jansen threw a perfect ninth for his 25th save. There were two outs in the fifth when Peraza connected off Hunter Brown (10-7) into the bullpen in right-center field to put the Angels up 1-0.

8/30/25 Angels rally late, secure win over Astros. Oswald Peraza delivered a tie-breaking, two-run single in the top of the ninth inning as the visiting Los Angeles Angels rallied for a 4-1 victory over the Houston Astros on Saturday. Peraza, who entered the game to play first base in the bottom of the seventh, struck the biggest blow against Astros closer Bryan Abreu (3-4), who surrendered three consecutive one-out singles to load the bases before Peraza smacked a fastball into the right-field corner that Astros right fielder Cam Smith proved unable to catch.

8/19/25 Former Top Prospect Now With Angels Blames Yankees for His Struggles. At one time, 25-year-old Venezuelan infielder Oswald Peraza was considered to be one of the best prospects within the New York Yankees system. It wasn't overly surprising to see the Yankees call him up to the big leagues as a 22-year-old. Fast-forward three years, and the Yankees cut bait — sending Peraza to the Angels for minor leaguer Wilberson De Pena. With a fresh start in Orange County, the hopes were that Peraza would find his bat (and more playing time) in a situation with far less pressure.

Minutes before the trade deadline on July 31, the Yankees dealt infielder Oswald Peraza to the Los Angeles Angels. A week later, the 25-year-old shared his good bye to New York. “Thank you, Yankees,” Peraza wrote on Instagram.

8/07/25 Traded Yankees Infielder Shares Heartfelt Goodbye. At last week's trade deadline, the New York Yankees traded infielder Oswald Peraza to the Los Angeles Angels. Today, he shared a loving goodbye to his first MLB team on Instagram. Peraza, 25, signed with the Yankees in 2016 when he was 19, and made his MLB debut in 2022. A top prospect when he was signed, Peraza has not seen much action this year, as current Yankees shortstop Anthony Volpe got the starting role on Opening Day this season and has largely occupied the spot.

8/05/25 MLB Insider Believes Angels Would Have Sold at Trade Deadline if Not for Arte Moreno. The Los Angeles Angels had to decide whether they wanted to be buyers or sellers at the trade deadline. Despite trailing multiple teams in the American League Wild Card race, the Halos took a risk and most stayed pat (while buying a little) at the deadline. The Angels acquired infielder Oswald Peraza from the New York Yankees and veteran relievers Andrew Chafin and Luis Garcia from the Washington Nationals.

By Vincent Page | Share on Facebook Share on X Copy Article Chicago Cubs v New York Yankees | New York Yankees/GettyImages Share on Facebook Share on X Share on Reddit Copy Article As the Angels approached the trade deadline, it was clear they needed a true third baseman who could both solidly defend and produce at the plate. After trading for two solid relievers, the lineup had to have been the focus for Perry Minasian and the front office. However, they accomplished nothing by trading for Oswald Peraza , and by the end of the season it will be a move that fans are holding over Minasian's head. One deadline move

LA Angels changed their entire trade deadline fate in two games This is how we do business in Anaheim By Evan Roberts | Share on Facebook Share on X Copy Article Rick Scuteri-Imagn Images Share on Facebook Share on X Share on Reddit Copy Article The 2025 Los Angeles Angels pulled off a rare feat -- the organization's decision maker, owner Arte Moreno, wanted the team to keep their team together and added three players for spots that needed upgrades...and fans did not like that! A baseball team's owner wanting to bolster the roster is 99.9% of the time met with resounding applause from the fanbase, but this is the Los Angeles Angels and this is the Arte Moreno effect. 7/22/25 Yankees' Oswald Peraza addresses not panning out. Major-league scouts who see a lot of the Yankees will tell you their best third defensive third baseman, best fielding shortstop and best second baseman is the same guy, Oswald Peraza. If Peraza hit like he did at every level in the minors, the Yankees probably wouldn't be desperate to deal for a third baseman before the 6 p.m., July 31 trade deadline. This time, the one part of Peraza's game that the Yankees always could count on let them down in a 4-1 loss to the Blue Jays.

7/14/25 Yankees predicted to bring $79 million two-time All-Star to New York. The sprint to the trade deadline will be a huge one for the New York Yankees. For New York to seize control of the division, the third base position has to be solved. It's been an offensive black hole all year, with a current platoon of Oswald Peraza and Jorbit Vivas craving improvement.

7/10/25 Yankees Urged to Axe Infielder. The New York Yankees have fallen from grace. It's clear New York needs to make a change to come back from the All-Star break strong. Yardbarker writer Jacob Mountz suggested the Pinstripes should axe third baseman Oswald Peraza as part of the solution to their problem. Out of minor-league options coming into the season, Peraza was squeezed onto the Opening Day roster as a backup infielder.

6/25/25 Yankees Infielder Named Likely DFA Candidate. Infielder Oswald Peraza has had a disappointing season with the New York Yankees. In a live Q&A interview for the Athletic, Chris Kirschner theorized that Peraza's position will be an upgrade priority for the Yankees, and that he will not be traded at the deadline, but is likely to be designated for assignment.

6/21/25 Yankees could soon give up on player whose 'future looks tenuous'. The New York Yankees have stuck by one of their former top prospects for long enough, but they are reaching a tipping point when it comes to his future. Oswald Peraza was once a top 100 prospect, but has not lived up to expectations. Peraza has played in 122 career games now, but has failed to produce much for the Yankees. Peraza is out of options and is not even showing value as a bench bat.
