August 20 - The Cincinnati Reds placed catcher Tyler Stephenson on the 10-day injured list on Wednesday because of a fractured left thumb. The move is retroactive to Sunday. In a corresponding move, the Reds selected the contract of catcher Will Banfield from Triple-A Louisville. Stephenson, who turned 29 on Saturday, has not played since Friday, going 0-for-3 with one run scored in the Reds' 10-8 loss to the visiting Milwaukee Brewers. He is batting .226 with nine home runs and 36 RBIs in 72 games after opening the season on the IL with a left oblique strain and returning to action on May 2.
