2/25/26 [NBC Sports Bay Area] - Where Giants, Athletics rank among best projected lineups for 2026 MLB season. The 2026 MLB season is fast approaching, and both the Giants and the Athletics have put themselves in a prime position offensively. In ahead of the upcoming season, San Francisco was listed at No. 17 with a projected lineup wins of 81.0. Meanwhile, the younger A’s team was ranked higher at No. 6 with a projected lineup wins of 84.1. The Giants added and this offseason, adding to the core of Rafael Devers, Willy Adames and Matt Chapman. “Apparently, the Giants are too slow to get injured,” ESPN’s Bradford Doolittle wrote. “So expect to see a lot of the same players standing around day after day playing station-to-station offense for a team with middling power. “The depth of the lineup, illustrated here by the star count, looks like a plus.” While veteran hitters headline San Francisco’s lineup, the A’s will be carried by its impressive core of young players, such as 2025 AL Rookie of the Year Nick Kurtz, Tyler Soderstrom and Jacob Wilson. The Athletics also in a trade with the New York Mets, adding another veteran presence alongside two-time MLB All-Star slugger Brent Rooker. “Slow and strong,” Doolittle wrote. “Isn’t this kind of what you think about when it comes to a contention-worthy Athletics lineup? “The patience part of the dossier is not really on brand for the A’s, however, and you do wonder if maybe there is some progress to be made in that department considering the youth up and down the batting order.” There are concerns with both teams, including the Giants’ baserunning and depth, as well as the Athletics’ patience and durability. But with strong hitters on both projected starting lineups, expect San Francisco and the Athletics to effectively produce on the offensive side of the ball.

9/09/25 Red Sox Rumors: Pitcher From Rafael Devers Trade Joining Club. Harrison is joining the club and is expected to be activated ahead of its series finale with the Athletics on Wednesday, according to Worcester T&G's Tommy Cassell. Harrison, who was acquired from the San Francisco Giants in the Rafael Devers trade on June 15, has spent the last couple of months in Triple-A Worcester. The Red Sox appeared to have promoted him last week, though plans changed and he never earned the promotion despite being brought into the fold for a couple of days. Connelly Early, another left-handed pitcher who recently spent time with the WooSox, is expected to make his debut with the Red Sox on Tuesday.

9/08/25 Red Sox Still Firmly In Division Race Alongside Blue Jays, Yankees. The Boston Red Sox remain part of a division where three contenders look dangerous, yet flawed. Boston rebuilt its identity after trading Rafael Devers in June. In response, the Red Sox leaned on their pitching core of Garrett Crochet, Brayan Bello and Lucas Giolito, putting together a 42-29 record since the Devers deal. Now, they're without rookie Roman Anthony due to an oblique injury that has stalled his breakout debut. But their resilience has kept them in the mix , wrote Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic. The New York Yankees, meanwhile, remain a study in unpredictability. The Yankees surged with a 4-2 stretch against first-place foes Houston and Toronto, briefly quieting doubts. Yet their tendency

9/05/25 Giants could make $400 million play for Cubs' Kyle Tucker, per Jeff Passan. Over the past few offseasons, there hasn't been a team more interested in landing a star than the San Francisco Giants. Unfortunately, the Giants haven't been able to find said star, but they were able to trade for one during the trade deadline by acquiring Rafael Devers from the Boston Red Sox. The Giants have played better baseball recently, and the expectation is for them to be more than fine in the long term. The question remains for the Giants, however, whether they'll be able to attract some of the top free agents on the market.

9/04/25 Giants Clearly Made Correct Choice Including Veteran in Blockbuster with Red Sox. The San Francisco Giants were at the center of the Major League Baseball universe over the summer when they pulled off a shocking trade with the Boston Red Sox for their disgruntled slugger Rafael Devers. At the time of the deal, most considered the Giants to have gotten away with a steal by having sent away Kyle Harrison, Jordan Hicks and two prospects in exchange for one of the best hitters in the sport, albeit on a large contract. In the weeks following, San Francisco looked like they could have a case of buyer's remorse as the 28-year-old struggled in the transition. Once the calendar turned to August however, Devers has been on an absolute tear, and though Boston has performed well since the trade as a team, the individual pieces of the return have not.

9/03/25 Ex-Red Sox Slugger Rafael Devers Officially Over Slow Start With Giants. When the San Francisco Giants acquired Rafael Devers from the Boston Red Sox on June 15, they were hoping he would boost their offense. After all, he's been one of the best hitters in baseball since debuting in 2017 and was off to a strong start this season. The Giants were one of the worst teams in baseball during that time, going 13-24 and falling out of contention in the NL West. Fortunately for San Francisco, Devers caught fire in August, finally turning his season around and giving the lineup a much-needed spark.

9/03/25 Red Sox Reportedly Won't Call Up Top Young Arm After All. Harrison, Boston's top acquisition in the Rafael Devers trade, had been floated as a candidate to follow Bernadino. “This could change, but as of this morning, the Red Sox were not planning to call up a pitcher (such as Kyle Harrison) for today's game,” Speier wrote.
