3/30/26 The Lance Slide Brings Sawx Down.

Lance McCullers Jr. (7 IP, 1 ER, 5 baserunners, 9 Ks) was once in a rotation with Scott Kazmir. Actually, that Astros team with Kazmir had Altuve and Correa too. Don’t forget Marisnick. He was there too. How could you forget *nick? Please, blog, may I have some more?

8/21/25 Astros Make Thursday Roster Shakeup, Recall Top Prospect Brice Matthews. The Houston Astros sit a game and a half up on the American League West, but continue to be bitten by the injury bug. Although starter Lance McCullers will return on Friday, there are still 11, now 12, players on the injured list. Starter J.P. France began the season on the 60-day injured list after shoulder surgery and after five rehab starts, the right-hander was activated on Thursday, but sent to Triple-A, according to Chandler Rome of The Athletic. Houston made another injury move by placing outfielder Taylor Trammell on the IL with a "cervical muscle strain," and followed that by recalling Brice Matthews, Rome reported.

This was the latest addition to the long list of injuries that McCullers has dealt with over the course of his career. 7/26/25 Astros 'best fit' for Royals ace at trade deadline?. The trade deadline is just around the corner, and despite all of the injuries the team has sustained, the Houston Astros still hold their lead over the Seattle Mariners and the Texas Rangers in the American League West standings. Lance McCullers Jr. is great and all, but the team has to draw the line with his injury-proneness at one point or another, and since Justin Verlander parted the team for a second time at the conclusion of last season, Hunter Brown and Framber Valdez have really been all that the team has to offer in terms of starters on the mound.

7/23/25 Insider Reports Astros Have Surprising Top Priority Ahead of Trade Deadline. The Houston Astros have had an incredible first half to the season, however, they have run into a bumpy patch as of late. The Astros got two more significant injury reports this week with both starting pitcher Lance McCullers Jr. and new star third baseman Isaac Paredes hitting the injured list.

7/16/25 Lance McCullers Jr. Will Be Elite for Astros if He Can Figure This One Thing Out. One of the feel-good stories of the 2025 campaign for the Houston Astros thus far has been the return of starting pitcher Lance McCullers Jr. Before making his season debut on May 4 against the Chicago White Sox, the last time McCullers took the mound for an MLB game was in the World Series against the Philadelphia Phillies in 2022. Multiple injuries and setbacks cost him the following two campaigns, but he worked tirelessly to put himself in a position to return to the Astros this season. Houston is fortunate he has been able to pitch regularly -- outside of a stint on the injured list that cost him just over two weeks in June -- because their staff has been ravaged by injuries.

7/12/25 Astros Franchise Legend Has Become Liability Since Return From Recent Injury. One of the best feel-good stories of the 2025 MLB campaign thus far was the return of Houston Astros starter Lance McCullers Jr. to the mound back in May. The now-31-year-old didn't get off to the best start, but quickly settled in to become the reliable arm the Astros had long known him to be. McCullers eventually recovered and was looking to pick right back up where he left off following his reinstatement on June 28. Unfortunately for both him and Houston, though, that hasn't been the case.
